After reading chapter 35 I no longer think Roy will survive this story. I think he's made 2 very significant mistakes, both of which deserve retribution.

I agree. While that didn't cross my mind, as soon as you mentioned Roy might not live out this story, I think you're right. He's done some pretty bad things and he's a little irrational. And I think it's that irrational attitude that will take him down. It is a shame...

But I can't say I like him anymore after what happened with Maria Ross.

I wonder what will happen with their battle next chapter, because Ed looks ready to give him hell.

Truly is too bad. He used to be cool. But it's very FMA-like. The good guys are not that good and the bad guys are not that bad. Several shades of gray exist. I love the complexity.

Chapter 215 was quite a shocker...

I was very, very disappointed. Roy did not even give Maria any chances. He simply asked whether she was Maria Ross before unleashing his flames on her.

Unless, of course, not everything is as it seems... But I doubt it...

Yeah, I'm thinking this one was pretty final. It's too bad. -_- I know FMA likes to play with our minds so much, but I think in this case, it's not.

In my opinion what Roy did was inhumane....but is also kind of correct.

<spoiler>I mean your important best friend died, several evidence points out that it is Ross who did it (of course its not but i'm thinking in Roy's view)...and the news paper just "confirmed" that it was Ross who killed Hughes (the newspaper was bs-ing...it was obvious that the military has planned for Ross to be blamed for this incident).

Well now that Roy knows (thinks he knows) who killed Hughes...of course he would revenge......while he was moving to the prison. Ross escaped, which gives Roy an even bigger opportunity to revenge.

Oh and this was what Roy said before he fried Ross.

Farman (is this his name?): *just recovered* That bastard...so this was what "lend me the phone" meant....to bash me in the head. *talks to Riza* Where is the Colonel?
Riza: The colonel is out. He said that he would not be back in a short while. *the camera then zooms to Ross engaging Roy*
Roy: Are you Maria Ross?
Ross: ?
Roy: *snap*
explosion occurs...Ross fried...FMA finds Roy.
Ed: What..? Whats the meaning of this?
Roy: Yo, Fullmetal.
Ed: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!! </spoiler>

What Roy did was inhumane and unbecoming as a disciplined soldier.

He is turning into the disgusting, inhumane, alchemist stereotype that he himself loathes.

I pity him if and when he realises the truth of who killed Maes.

Put me in the group that thinks Roy pulled a fast one and didn't actually kill her. Just the way the events there played out leads me to think that maybe Roy is covering for her for some reason. I don't don't think Roy is that cold-blooded, he knows there are strange events going on. I doubt he will believe everything is as it seems, especially when it came to the events surrounding Hughes death.

The charred body with the convenient wrist ID tags remaining makes me think that is a subbed body. Roy might not let on to Ed that he made such a switch (at least until Roy figures out more about what is going on), but I figure the audience will at least see that he pulled the switch.

Roy pulling a fast one is highly doubtful. If you look carefully at the scans, you would notice there would be precious little time between the panel where Roy starts his flames and where Ed reaches that alley and sees that charred body.

I would hope he did, but since FMA is getting a dark turn, I would think Maria was sacrificed by the FMA creator to add more angst to the story...

then again, I don't think Roy is that ignorant to fry Ross just because she's suspected. As the title states - "Sacrificial Lamb" (I think it should be scapegoat). She's probably sacrificed for a reason.

Thanks to Envy and Lust talking, they see Roy as a bit of a problem with his investigations, but they need him for sacrifice, so unfortunately for Maria Ross, she was accused to distract Roy's interests.

Having read FMA Chapter 36 in July's Gangan, I am more pleased in the way the manga is developing.

Though I started suspecting it, events in this chapter further convinces me that Roy is just a naughty, naughty man. Not bad, but naughty

I'm expecting that a bunch of hentai doujin lovers would be clamouring for their favourite hentai doujin mangakas to draw up an Ed-Winry scene at a certain moment... The suggestion then was way too easy (darn imagination... *bad Yebyosh!!!*)

The best part came at the end. It was a twist that I bet nobody expected, even the most hardened literature reader. What happened in the end was history coming back to bite in more ways than one. Can a body exist without a soul? Or is someone not who he claimed he was? Or the context of what 66 said then trying to unnerve Al is true! But oh what irony!!!

I highly doubt the charred body is Maria Ross, because in anime or manga when you see an indistinguishable body, it means something fishy is going on

Anyway I think the FMA author took a very dangerous step here, it's most likely a lose-lose situation for him, unless he can pull out something miraculous in the next few chapters...

Hmmm, I am not too sure what you mean by this. "Lose-lose"?

What I think of the situation is

the obvious act was just a shock tactic except that it was quite obvious that something else is brewing (the clues are pouring in, in my opinion) but the lil throwaway (since this shock tactic was just a cover up) is then overwhelmed by a twist at the end of chapter 36. It is like Arakawa-sensei set you up into thinking the first story was meant to be the "interesting" element but knowing it was cliched, set up the shock as it was meant to have, then another revelation is pulled out that you could not have suspected and you go "whoa!".

Well at least that happened to me

Heh sorry, just bear with it till I get the time to translate it (should be quite easy since a Chinese scanlate just got released recently that I can verify/compare my own translations against his, time will then be taken up by editing).

I don't know if there is a quantitative way to measure their power (power can mean quite a lot of things). But in terms of combat ability, I will put Wrath as the one that can kick all their hineys to kingdom come, and Envy shall be the one sculpering away whimpering like the worm he is

I don't think you can come up with definitive ranking for the Sins.

Wrath has the Ultimate Eye that allows him to predict enemy movements, can fight well at mid-range, and is too fast for the others; Wrath's swords can only penetrate certain weak points on Greed's Ultimate Shield

Lust is devastating from short to mid range and can do signifcant damage before the opponent can regenerate; Lust's Ultimate Halberd can only penetrate certain weak points on Greed's Ultimate Shield.

Gluttorny has huge hands and strong grip and is not that slow at all. His power only works at very short range but damages a large area very quickly; he might be able to melt Greed's Ultimate Shield, but this has never been tested.

Greed moves slower than Wrath and Envy, has to fight at a short range, and can't deal enough damage before the opponent regenerates, but his Ultimate Shield gives him a huge advantage in a prolonged fight.

Envy doesn't have an ability suitable for combat, so he resorts to cunning, superior hand-to-hand fighting, and human weapons. He is too agile for Greed, but he can't really do much damage in return against other Homunculi. Wrath will own Envy. So will Lust. Greed might be able to as well. Gluttony can, too, if he's hungry.

We haven't seen manga Sloth or Pride in action, so I can't compare them.
