People usually use hairstyle to tell the difference between anime characters because their faces look similar. But now even the hair is similar

The hairstyles in the image are still slightly different between characters though, thus you're not going to confuse Hamakaze's for Yzak Joule's.

Also, it's not like the phenomenon of similar hair doesn't occur in real life.There are only so many ways you can draw certain hairstyles before they end up looking similar to each other, especially if you're trying to achieve a more down-to-earth look for your characters instead of going full anime hair. Like samefacing, this is hardly a new, unheard-of phenomenon that warrants concern.

Put those three girls in same swimsuits and try asking casual viewers to differentiate them without relying on their anime eyes and you'll have a problem . Thankfully, they came from different media and wear different clothes.

The concern that I speak of is not merely about recognition & differentiation, but also about memorability (unless the character itself has strong personality that stand out from the crowd). It's more of a personal concern anyway.

Actually, you wouldn't have too much of a problem with the swimsuit comparison. Youmu is basically a loli, while Hamakaze has a rack that'd make a porn star envious.

As Rising Dragon mentions, all of the characters here actually have very different body types, thus the swimsuits would actually make their differences just that much more apparent.
