We don't know, and it's one of the two biggest mysteries of the series.
1) Why does Satella love Subaru
2) What is Satella's relation to Emilia

These are core mystery of the story, and haven't been explained yet.

Those 8 volumes of LN haven't even finished covering arc 3 (which the anime will likely cover fully) you know.

Nonono, Subaru and later Rem died from a curse. Rem only killed in him the 2nd loop while Ram mercy killed him in the 3rd during his interrogation by Rem. The reason Rem kills in Subaru the 2nd loop is due to the Witch's scent which basically confirms the fears about him, actually having something like that is far worse than being found out that you a spy and it's not something you just happen to have by accident either.

Sorry. Third loop, but it's interesting to note he would've died even when the shaman didn't kill anyone.

I wonder if Subaru and Satella are peas in a pod. What if her madness was the result of an experience similar to what Subaru's going through? We're dealing with time. Maybe Satella had the same power to rewind and maybe Subaru, whatever he was in this original timeline, was her light.

There's no reference points since we never actually see Subaru's original world again, so no way to know. We do get to see a glimpse of virtual version of it though, when

I'm thinking something similar to that extent.
Perhaps Subaru and Emilia are both reincarnation of some personas in the past.

For example, Satella was dual-personality. Satella, the good girl, and the wicked Witch of Envy, an insane and malicious entity she turned into. My theory is perhaps Satella managed to separate herself from Envy, like how Kami separated from Piccolo, then reincarnated as Emilia.

I would say that this theory could be true since it is clear just to see the appearance of Emilia since it is almost equal to the Witch of envy, which is why many confuse it with her, when in fact may be a reincarnation of it. I wonder who was the person who brought Subaru to the world of fantasy

Roswaal takes over body of his family line, always assuming the body of the current head of the house. He's even lived lives as females.

One of his main goal is to be reunited with Ekidna, Witch of Greed, who he loves and worship.
Ekidna was not only mother of Betty, but she was also teacher to the original Roswaal.

I was really surprised by Roswaal's background.

The bi-sexual tendencies he shows, especially in the anime ( preview for episode 5 ) make way more sense if you know "that" about him.

All in all I can't wait for peoples' reaction once the tone shifts in episode 6 named "The sound of chains". That scene seriously got me when I read it.

I am surprised by the news of Roswaal. I have many winning to see the next episode where Rosswal teaches subaru magic types that exist, I hoped that Subaru would be different from 'Yin' magic. I wonder if Betty has enough power to be able to defeat Roswaal.
