After reading it, it just bothers me why Kamachi choose the name Tangram for the god. I know it's like a Chinese puzzle thing, but I can't connect the two in any way.

Continuing from the preview, we see part of the match between Mikoto and Kuroko vs Misaki, only to cut to Touma getting into Virtual On by fighting Index. Predictably, he loses a lot, but he seems to be getting how it works. He leaves Index alone to run an errand, and she ominously accepts a fight with someone with a corrupted name.

Touma butts in Index's fight to help her against the Defected player, but he guess his ass kicked. In the proccess he gets a weird message on his device and alos becomes a Defected player, giving him much better control over his Virtuaroid, though not even that seems enough to win. Fortunately, Accelerator shows up and makes the Blue Stalker run away. Unfortunately, this is the first chapter so instead of talking to Touma about what's going on he decides to be cryptic, mentioning he's also Defected.

Mikoto and her team got classifed for the tournament as District 7's representatives, and they have a new online friend who was the one who introduced them to Virtual On. Meanwhile, Touma's Virtuaroid is now locked as Temjin, and Aogami suggest customizing it.

Touma and Index go to the park so Touma can scan materials to customize his Temjin. Meanwhile, Mikoto realizes something wrong is going on and decides to ditch the tournament and Defect. Some time later Touma find a girl that looks like Lilina sleeping in the trash, though she calls herself Furashina Ririn. Mikoto passes by and Touma thinks to ask her for help, but Ririn stops him, talking about Hunters and NPCs. The plot thickens.

This is getting really interesting. This almost feels like a Shin Megami Tensei kinda plot. But at the same time, its a very Index kinda story with urban legends, secret websites and dark outcomes.

But the vibes I'm getting so far remind me about Railgun and the Dream Ranker Arc the most.

Touma eventually manages to wake up Ririn for a bit, though she insists she needs to be sleepy. Curious. He has a nice moment with Mikoto after separating from Ririn, and then he meets Tsuchimikado, who knows what's going on and points him to a site that can tell him more. Suffice to say, things are not going well for some Virtual On players. Meanwhile, Accelerator is investigating the owner of the same website. Apparently one of the rumors in the website is true since Accelerator can create the Scythe from his Virtuaroid and use its powers. That's really interesting.

It continues to get darker. Now we know what happens to the Defected who disappeared. Looks like Shirai also became a victim.

And now, for all those people who complain that Kamijou never seems to face opponents with a gun, plz shut up now; you've got what you wanted. Imagine Breaker is useless so running away is the only option right now.

Pretty tense action scenes. The volume continues to get better.

I suspected the thing with the NPCs, didn't expect Kuroko to be to fall victim to that. I understand why Mikoto is so angry.

Anyway, Touma pilots his Virtuaroid a lot better now that he's Defected. Unfortunately, he's facing people with more experience that him that can pull the same trick Accelerator did with his scythe. And we already knew IB doesn't work on Virtuaroid stuff.

Touma's classic strategies come into play and he manages to beat one of the kidnappers and escape from the other. He tries to think about what to do next, and Ririna warns him that Mikoto's plan to save NPCs won't be very successful and that he should focus in Blue Stalker.

Accelerator is getting a lot of mileage of that scythe. And now we have Touma vs Mikoto round 2. Mikoto was smart and scanned herself to add her esper power to her Raiden.

Great battle between Kamijou's Temjin and Mikoto's Raiden ver. Railgun. That Kuroko trolling was annoying but right afterwards Blue Stalker KS'd Misaka.
