Could we get this subforum moved to currently airing?
Aside from that this was an okay episode. Not as good as Evol's first episode but good enough. The music is a bit of a letdown but I still managed to enjoy it and the characters look much better in action. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get an explanation about what's going on.

The main character is Appollonius or some sort of half soul of his Not sure about the other characters yet but Touma will be there too and there was a blonde girl in the opening who is likely Celiane but dumps MC cause she got her happy end with Appollo the dog.
Anyway maybe we can get the real deal about Appolonius/Touma love story from however million years ago. |

I got mixed feelings with the OP theme song.
Not bad for the first episode I guess although a lot seems to have happened. Definitely glad to see more Aquarion return though and it seems like we have some new mechanics like the Logos World and texts. Well, this season is 2 cour so expecting more to come with the storytelling.

If you’re in just to be entertained without thinking too much, you can just watch this series casually without any baggage. This series is supposed to be a new start after all. You might miss some references along the way, but for this kind of story, I don’t think it matters much. In fact, the previous series had mediocre (and sometimes awful) stories that I don’t mind if I my brain lose the memory of it to make way for better things to remember . If you’ve never seen the older mecha series, just consider this a replacement for Aldnoah (but with more flair and extravagance).

Finally got around watching the episode... So this is Aquarion: Fun With Kanji? That part really reminded me of Ayakashi ayashi. Sigh, that poor show.
This episode really didn't feel like an Aquarion episode for me, and I'm not sure if that's good or not... but it was mostly fun. The main character is so over-the-top omnipotent it's actually hilarious, I still hope Maya is an angel otherwise I'm not really interested, Kokone is sorta cute but potentially so annoying, I'm actually the most interested in the jealous guy (Subete?), the OP hints at fun things to come (maybe another split reincarnation?). Apropos OP and ED, it was kind of funny how the OP makes Akira/Maya pretty much the obvious endgame couple, while the ED focuses on Kokone... who will apparently lose the triangle game in this series. (Or will she? This is Aquarion, after all.) Also, while I really don't want to speculate about who is the reincarnation of whom, because I'm sure we're going to get surprise twists, the shot with Maya and Akira during the gattai was pretty much a frame by frame (and stylistic) reference of Celiane meeting Apollonius. Other than that, I was most interested in Nakata Jouji's character. At first I thought he was the Gen character of the show, but turns out that he's the bad guy? And he says DEAVA stole the vectors from him? And DEAVA uses the kind of portals that we've seen from the angels? Hmmmmm. |

There is no guarentee that Zessica would reincarnate though. Only 3 characters are important in the reincarnation cycle - Apollonius/Touma and Celiane. Appollo was important till the last series. Zessica was not a reincarnation of any of the 4 characters. Unless ofcourse there is going to be a big reveal about her in this show that she is Touma's reincarnation or some thing related to Celiane.

Yeah, I got the same Sirius feeling from him but I sure hope it is not him. Both the girls are far improvement from Mikono as well.
Atleast no talk about smelling like someone happened yet. Thankfully. But Akira did have slit eyes for a moment so you can never be sure. Last edited by juve; 2015-07-06 at 19:06. |

I have to be honest... This episode didn't grab me like I recall Aquarion EVOL's first episode grabbing me when I first watched it a few years ago.
Whatever flaws Amata and Mikono had, they were easy to "get" and care some about. There was a certain normalcy to them that helped make their story, and Aquarion EVOL as a whole, very accessible in spite of how over-the-top it was in many ways. This new MC though... He's amusing in some ways, but his personality has this strangely distant and weird quality to it. He just talks about being "the savior", without the slightest hint of irony or self-doubt. Combine that with his very steady and relatively unchanging facial expressions, and I find him pretty hard to connect to in any real way. The major female characters show some potential, I guess, though neither left a particularly strong impression on me. A lot of the visuals were strong stylistically, and the episode had a certain groovy edge to it. But given how I found it really hard to connect to most of the characters or the plot, much of it ended up feeling a bit empty to me. I agree with kuromitsu that this episode really didn't feel like an Aquarion episode for me. There wasn't quite that same sense of colorful careening chaos, or that same sense of flashy hammy characters getting caught up in wild uncertain adventures. Things felt much more straightforward and... serious, maybe?... to me here. Oh well. It is just one episode. Maybe the major characters will get fleshed out more in the next episode, and maybe I'll eventually find it easier to connect to the male lead.

I can't tell if this is a horrible concept done right or a fantastic premise gone wrong. Is it supposed to be wacky or is this the result of the pretentiousness around Attack on Kanji? Also, Akira is a dead ringer for Inaho from Aldnoah.Zero, except HE SHOUTS GATTAI or something. Yeah. I heard Aquarion in general is not supposed to be taken literally, but it's hard to tell what Logos wants to be, if anything at all. But hey, it has me reeling in confusion, which even Guilty Crown and Aldnoah.Zero couldn't do!
Fuck. This ain't an anime. It's an experience~!
