Real smooth that McGilis. Char would be proud
Other than that, the episode was a let down. Fight was disappointing and we have the usual talkative parts. But hey, Mika is starting to think. I hope there are more real development for him coming

Haha. This is a quite entertaining episode if nothing else. We see how Mika use the katana to finish off Kudal, we see Masahiro’s parting words with Akihiro (glad that their goodbye ended up on a more positive note compared to last episode’s ending), we see that one of Masahiro’s friend with scar on his face actually survived the battle and became part of Tekkadan now among other pirate kids, we see many casualties from both Tekkadan & Brewers and the funerals and the hydrogen-something firework to honor them, we see more of “Orga - Merri” cute interaction, we see Naze & Amida teaching the kids how to make out and we see how Mika took the lesson rather seriously .
One thing to note is that, Mika seem to got hit by Kudals’ word where he said that Mika enjoys all the killings. Now the question is.....is he? Which he seem to not know (or not sure about) the answer itself. And in case anybody missed it, it’s confirmed now that Mika is attracted to Kudelia, a female. That’s your little character development right there. And now Mika will most likely continue to question himself whether or not he’s a soldier who enjoys the act of killings. And yay! Akihiro got himself a Gundam! He has been thinking for a while. Did you forgot how he (by his own initiative) invited Kudelia to the corn field to ease her mind? Did you forgot how he described the suffering of the orphans and the human debris of Mars in details to Kudelia in the said field and thanked her for the chance at better life she gave Tekkadan? Did you forgot how Mika gave his advice and insight when Kudelia was asked by McMurdo Barriston to use Teiwaz? and other events where it's plain to see that Mika is actually doing some thinking?

This episode really had me smiling the entire time watching it!
Some points that I liked: >THAT FATALITY ON GUSION. Really. You don't need needless explosions or beam spam shits or trans-am shits to make finishing blows awesome. >Mackey carrying Almiria while saying those lines... it has awakened something in me.... SOMEONE MAKE A DOUIJIN OF THIS QUICK >The Orga-Merribit interactions is cute as usual. And I'm starting to think Orga's finally noticing Merribit. In a good way. >Akihiro asking for the Gusion to be his! YES THIS!! >The fireworks on the funeral is touching, and it really has a lot of symbolisms in it. Aside from the obvious symbolism of the brevity of life, it also matches the symbol (and the name) of the Tekkadan. >Mikazuki stepping up his game and making the moves on Kudelia really surprised me, and actually I like it. Maybe it's just me, but it really goes with the flow of the situation (and considering he came from the briefing on how to flirt to a girl courtesy of Naze and Amida) and doesn't feel forced at all >THERE'S ACTUALLY A COLONY IN THIS SERIES?!?! And it looks like a UC-type colony at that! Now that makes that three timelines that use the same colony design (UC, the timeline of AGE cuz I forgot the name, and this series)

Also, Mackey might be smoothing his way to Almiria in this episode, but there's a certain other Tekkadan kid who did the same to get a hug from Fumitan and feeling her breasts . I'll tell you something, Tekkadan's lil' kids are so smart when it comes to identifying hot chicks .

I love how the crew of Tekkadan is so deliciously fleshed out. Even the kids and minor characters get their small nugget of character development. And was this the first ever funeral to be depicted in a Gundam series? I'm grateful that the producers turned the usual Gundam tropes in on their heads, with Masahiro not getting the forced reunion with his brother but rather his death acting as a catalyst for the rest of the cast to forge ahead with the task at hand.
I just don't understand how some naysayers here can lament that this episode's just one of the usual talk-and-few-action fare. I don't remember this series being marketed along the lines of its predecessors (which you got to admit, the previous few were awful, e.g. AGE, Reconguista). I also don't give a hoot about the claim that this is just a generic anime with a Gundam tag slapped on it - it's high time the franchise as a whole makes strides beyond the tropes which do more harm than good to the money-making business. A good story should form the core of any Gundam series; I refuse to believe that selling toys should detract the producers from the virtue of film-making. |

Holy fucking shit this series is way to smart. First we get the 2nd gundam won't be shown again tease. I mean damn towards the end that was a really good tease. The character building in this show is just out of this world. Mika actually having doubts about killing and not even realizing it. I mean just a few subtle words cut deep and shook him for a while. hes not going to go angsty or full blown pacifist but as with any human he would eventually succome to PTSD symptoms when impacted with the right triggers. Also that kiss holy shit my jaw dropped. Who the fuck is writing this series.
This is like the exact opposite of Gundam G reco instead of characters that are walking tropes popping in left and right we have all this character building fleshing out real relationships and real interactions that you don't see in gundam normally. Its like gundam with real people instead of caricatures. I haven't seen anime this fleshed out in a while. Maybe since guin saga. Also Let be realistic here AGE was not bad it had its good moments until the final arc. Suffers from a slow start but it was a solid gundam series. It was more easier to follow than G reco. Age gave us Flit,Asemu,Diesel and Wolf where as G reco gave us absolutely nothing. I have literally forgot the name of every G reco character except for mask. I only remember mask because he was a char clone.

Holy crap, Mika took the lead?! THE FUCKING MALE MC TOOK THE LEAD ON THE KISS?!IN A GUNDAM SHOW?! BWAHAHAHAHAHHA this series is gold. And so was Kudelia's reaction
Its nice to see Mika unconsciously shaken up by Kudal's words, normally I dont think it would have affected him, but maybe the AV system amplified it???? Damn Chocolate man really is a fitting nickname for McGillis, not only does he have chocolate on him, his tongue is made out of it too. INB4 his new machine is brown colored lol AKIHIRO GETS GUSION!!! FUCKING CALLED IT. CANT WAIT TO SEE GUSION REBAKE WHEN IT DEBUTS That funeral scene was touching, and lots of symbolism. And it was interesting to see Orga's views on such things Damn you Naze, you're starting to affect Mika too xD And those were low blows at Atra and Almiria this episode, thats harsh....... Next episode: Earth!!! And a Colony!!! And Norba is more or less living on borrowed time now, they gave him some screen time, lamenting killing the pirate kids, talking about his own funeral of all the damn things, and to top it off: Spoiler for Slight Spoiler:

I also liked how chill Mikazuki's interaction with Kudal at the start of the episode. Rather than going heroic BSOD or outright denying Kudal's words rashly like some other Gundam protagonists would do, he just shrugs and goes "well ok Imma finish u first since you're in the way". And the way Mika is actually shaken by his words later adds to the realism of the characterization. And how could I forget this: Ride picking Fumitan over Atra (and his reason being Atra having no bewbs) is just plain hilarious.

I feel so bad for Atra unless Mika goes harem route she has no hope this series is just to fucking grounded in reality. In a normal gundam series she would be the main characters child hood friend and hook up with him just because child hood friend once the series ends regardless of compatibility. But in Gundam Iron blooded trope destroyers she is a kid who just can't have a relationship with Mika leaving him and Kudelia to embrace each other and their over bearing struggles.
Unless Mika dies or Kudelia responsibility and status get in the way I can't see the 2 of them not together. The latter is not really a option because Kudelia is miss revolutionist going out with human trash and being some one of her status would be the ultimate fuck you to the current regime. Then again I am not sure why the kiss shocked me. When she hugged him I thought Mika is a borderline adult he needs a kiss not a hug. THen he kissed her............................................... ...............................................Nop e still can't believe a gundam series wen't through with that shit.
