I never cared for the griffon at the start of this one as well, I read past it and that ended up being a pretty minor element luckily (MC not depending fully on it). Though the drama with the purple hair heroine being stetched out forever kept me from keeping up with it.

Was that ever solved or still dragging?

Yeah, I was avoiding this one because of the gunpowder too. But if it isn't the "lets create machineguns and massacre all the stupid mages" than it might be interesting.

Speaking of this, how is magic in this series (since you mentioned it having weak isekai aspect)? Is it something like Oukoku Michi?

Even thinner than Oukoku. You read Vermillion? It's like that but even thinner. To cause physical manifestation is really difficult. Not even fireball here. More like curses.

As far as I remember it was limited to weird curses and such and only royalty was able to use it or something, there was blessings as well, which were essentially cheats, but only certain beings like the griffon at the start had them.

Blessing is more widespread. Varied and a person might possess more than 1.

I have seen the same blessing recently in Maou no Utsuwa... And fairies there managed to "reverse" one human by taking back their blessing (curse).
