I enjoyed this last episode specially the first half which was intense. I didn't like much Enjin but this episode made me start to like him, he's more interesting than I thought.
Overall as many said the staff did a great job. Technically it was great, sometimes a little rough because of rookies but they still managed to deliver great episodes. Quote:
I wish the series was longer but we were lucky to get this series. I've just read volume 8 and bonus pages reveal some things about the first OAD. The Kodansha producer decided to do a new original episode in spring 2009. They had to change the team and production (1st TV series) but the team wasn't fixed yet so they asked Yasuda what staff he wanted. Yasuda suggested ryochimo because of his talent and popularity. He directly asked ryochimo since he was an acquaintance and ryochimo accepted even if the team and studio weren't known. Then Tatsunoko was chosen and Yasuda also suggested studio Kusanagi for the backgrounds and some names he knew (we got Suemitsu thanks to him). He was impressed by Hiroshi Kobayashi and ryochimo's storyboards. The staff gave storyboards to the musicians in order to compose BGM matching the scenes. Yasuda required the anime's design didn't need to look like his art and the most important thing was animation's fluidity. Though he did think anime characters were similar to his manga but he felt ryochimo's style.

Very interesting! I knew he had a close involvement with the production but not this close! He's really fortunate to be able to have all these people he knows/admires working on his anime. phatmans after school is also a band he's been a fan of since their indie days so he probably was the one who got them to perform for Hana no Uta. Seems to be a similar case for Unison Square Garden (who are also one of the character's favourite musicians, IIRC Ao's?) and Yashikin too. |

Finally got around to finishing it. It really takes a while to get warmed up to the characters, but towards the 2nd half I really started to enjoy their antics. Really solid animation in general, lots of AWESOME fight scenes that were extremely well directed, making up for the lower budget compared to say KnK.
Anyways, Enjin is a really terrible salesmen. He should be focusing on guilt tripping Akina into saving the people he tuned (assuming the other side really is a living hell) instead of trying to lure him with delusions of grandeur. Also, Lila is OP! |

That was kind of a non-ending considering Enjin is still around, but then apparently the manga was like that at this point too.
Anyway, I liked this better than the previous anime in most aspects. Kinda bummed the OVA episodes are releasing so far apart. |
