Episode 6 had so many good moments. Seeing the start of Sora's art club adventures, a bit of focus on Kasugano-sensei (she's great), and the Greek Chorus. I was surprised that Sora and the others recognized them, since they seemed to exist "outside" the story this whole time. Seems they just never come to meetings.
Of course, can't forget the Frontline Battle Pillows(tm). They're Greek Chorus Wingnut Approved. Can't wait for the next episode. I've wanted to see Kate in the show ever since I saw her on the site, and she's voiced by Yuko Goto at that. Her English surprised me - it sounded pretty good. Sora's too. |

The fat cat was a riot. Whenever I hear that seiyuu's voice I think of Alucard; hearing him voice a cat was just too much. I'm totally loving this series. The feel-good slice-of-life shows appeal to me so strongly for some reason. I guess I just love the kind of show that never fails to brighten my mood, no matter what mood I'm in. The only problem with this one is that I can't remember the names of most of the characters, but that doesn't really matter. |

Actually, d.sinclair reminds me of something I've always liked about (some) anime; that it simply makes me feel better about the world. I first noticed it with (of all things) Steel Angel Kurumi, that watching it just made me smile and feel like things can't possibly be all that bad. YKK always does that for me, AzuDai, Hidamari, some others, and now this one. Bad day at work? I watch an ep of Sketchbook and all that crap recedes into the background. Now, to go watch ep 6, finally. ^________^

Wow. Is there any show she's not in? Hardest working woman in anime she is. |

I love this show so much now, it's honestly the first show since Aria to give me that kind of calm smile. It has a very similar vibe, but with a little more quirkyness and curious nature. I wish there were more shows like this out there, they are so uplifting and cheerful.

Ep 6 was fun. Although I think the cockroaches were more numerous b/c it's Fukuoka, in the south. In U.S. terms, it's like Florida or the gulf coast states. Houston, maybe. BIG-ass cockroaches. :P I've got a friend who likes to point out the "region-specific" things in Sketchbook. The dialect, the terms for things...it's fun.

Another similarity to Kamichu - the underused younger brother character. I like Sora and her posse, but the mood around them is so relentlessly wistful and sedate that it's nice to have a change of pace once in a while. I liked the dynamic of the siblings, but we haven't seen a return since.
