It was an abandoned subplot (scrapped by Gen, but still present in the Art Material so...). One of the assassins (that loli) breaking out the hive mind, forgetting she's a Servant (IIRC) and being found and adopted by Waver and Rider... They grow really close.

Until Kirei forces a command spell and Waver has to take a horrible choice to deal with it.

That sounds awesome
To bad Gen didn't include it

Really wonder why he did not include it... maybe he thought it would fit his style way too much to create a bond just to sever it later

I wish they could have included this

Probably that and space (where would it fit to make it flow smoothly?).

More despairrrrrrrrr. This was a subplot to make Waver mature more earlier on the storyline. He always got the godawful choices about children (Loli Assassin, the Caster's lair). It's still a popular idea among the fanbase, here:

Spoiler for two fanarts inspired by the ditched subplot... warning for PANTLESS ISKANDAR and loli cleavage:

A three way team up with the hero servants is a pretty cool way to end the season, but how will they bring down the Kraken?

Personally, I've been seeing Rider vs Caster for a week or two. I'm expecting it to be Rider's army vs Caster's army.

A quick idea would be for Rider to manifest Ionian Hetairoi to break CthulhuCaster, but I have a gut feeling that it wouldn't be that easy ... would it? Caster is, after all, known to be a master of territorial defense.

Ah. If it's that, I guess I can agree.

Looking back, I think I got carried away in my earlier post. I can at least see where some viewers are coming from. This show has occasional problems when it comes to integrating long dialogue with the action sequences to the point that it becomes visually uninteresting. Though, if that's the problem, episodes 12 and 11 did it much worse.

Of course, as a person who watches Fate/Zero for the characters and their characterization over the plot, any scene that explores the characters' personalities and goals further is just as satisfying as a gloriously animated fight sequence.

Anyhow, rating the fist half as it is seems kinda pointless since we can't really judge the plot without all the cards on the table. The most we can go on are the other details like execution, characters, animation, music, etc. Either way, a proper rating from just that is insufficient.

The show's main character is saber, so saber will do everything.
Like EXCALIBURRRR!!!!!!!
And bam Caster loses.
After lots of drama.

But seriously, I don't know.

I liked how they focused on dialogues in the series. However, at the same time, because I am reading subs, I always look at the scene after reading and I am a bit disappointed on how some of them are animated. The bad art becomes very noticeable as the anime progress, and I think they could have done better. I wonder if I'll feel the same thing if this is dubbed to English.

Technically, she is (or at least the face of the series that is promoted)... Although Waver and Rider seem to be stealing the show from her and Kiritsugu.

I would say Fate/Zero is a bit more of an ensemble cast, meaning that no particular person really is the "main" character. However, Saber, Kiritsugu, and Kotomine will most likely be who the story delivers the most attention to in the end.

The character development seems focused on Waver and Kotomine, even if Kiritsugu is the 'default' protagonist among the Masters.

ALL of them

with a special emphasis on Kiritsugu and Kotomine. Saber is probably the 3rd most focused-on character though...

If Saber's hand was healed she could probably annihilate that entire summon with Caster. Excalibur is an anti-castle NP after all.
