I'd prefer it not to be about a ninja or soul reaper.

Bleach
Inuyasha
Rosario+V(1 and 2)
Vampire Night

These are all of the manga ive read in this genre.

I think Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn! will fit you, it's kind of comedy at first but get serious as it goes on, it's about a tiny guy that becomes the boss of a maffia. Give it a try! =]
