I know how you feel Rei-chan, just 7 more eps to go

The ep was not as big a shift in tone as I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were too much, but I had been wondering where these Alone come from, and I ruled out Pacific Rim style or alien origins, as they are detected suddenly, suggesting a dimensional being. While it's all still a mystery, at least we're getting some story. I gotta agree with the HighGear though about Rei-chan's infiltration tactics, she definitely needs more training... with me! Yes! As an indestructable pervert, I'll gladly take shots from her

First the Isshiki sisters, then Himawari, if Wakaba hadn't pulled that dress out of the dimensions, I'd have thought she's a part of the group

Well, depending on how complex the overall narrative is, it could be a good break in the action.

First 5 episodes - Introduce each of the major protagonists (and the major anatagonist), flesh out major characters a bit, flesh out the world a bit, setup the basics.

Episode 6 - Relaxing break in the action until...

Episodes 7 on - Will all the setup done, and with a break over, the sort shifts into high gear until the climax is met.

This is a reasonably approach as long as the 2nd half of the show doesn't feel rushed.

Beach episodes are mandatory in series like these. Onsen is optional.

This episode made me absurdly happy. I'm not ashamed to admit that I absolutely love characters like Rei. The tragedy is so . . . I just had to sit back and breath for a moment after her raison d'être was revealed. At this point I don't even care if it's a cliche to have such a character. Sometimes cliches can be a good thing!

It's a tough call between Rei and Wakaba, but at the end of the day I'm going to have to go with Rei.

Not quite a turning point yet, but still a fairly interesting episode. Since the crow is talking about the destruction of Rei's world thanks to the Manifestation Engine it seems she is actually a time diver or something similar. And the number of Alones may not be fixed or related to her feathers after all because one already was destroyed without being powered up.

And in the next week: The sea. The sand. Swimsuits. Himawari
