Not to be confused with the original Xbox.
(Come on, I can't be the only person to have sometimes referred to the original as an "Xbox one" over the years.) Quote:

If all of these points are true, I can't see myself getting this thing.
1) Requires Kinect 2) Needs to connect online every day to keep working. 3) Can't play used games without additional charges (potentially false) I'm probably forgetting quite a few, but that's enough to stop me.

I read somewhere that the 500 GB hard drive can't be swapped out. That sucks. I read you can attach an external HDD, though. Still, that sucks. I was considering getting a Wii U at launch last year and was looking for external HDDs for it, and it is kind of a hassle. Most external HDDs will require to be plugged into an outlet, and you don't wanna keep them plugged in all the time. It kind of sucks you have to resort to external HDDs for Wii U, and now people will have to do that with XBox None. It would have been better if they allowed for HDDs that could be swapped out, like XBox 360 and PS3.

Spoiler for My Reaction to the Conference:
It's painfully clear that Microsfot is now a lost cause in this upcoming generation of gaming. I mean having to be registered online to play games of any kind, and to pay a fee to play used games for that matter. Seriously, what a bunch idiotic hypocrites. If they think me and rational gamers are going to buy this crap, they are sadly mistaken. As a huge Sony fan I'm starting to get really worried, but at the same time hopeful that they won't mess up like MS. I'm truly hyped for the PS4, but with what's happened MS in this conference, I can't help but worry now.

And so now this thing will *require* Kinect?! I wonder if customers will be required to have a retinal scan and a thumb ID? What a trainwreck this announcement has turned out to be.
Taking a look at the comments section on that IGN article (that mentions the Kinect will be required) there sure are a good number of XBox fanboys defending Microsoft. A couple are even resorting to petty racism. -_- Pathetic. |

And lo! I said one of the only things that could now probably make me interested in buying this was Banjo, and....welllll, maybe? Who knows?

Ok at least one thing is false, they will NOT charge extra to play used games.
Figures there'll be misinformation out there. There's still different info running around, I doubt this is the end of it.

That was so unbelievably bad that it made Sega's meltdown seem not so bad. I don't understand why they thought that holding a conference to introduce their newest gaming console, and not dedicating it to explaining why this would be the next step in gaming, was a great idea. Because E3 was coming soon? Yeah, you'll be joining Nintendo, Sony, and every third party developer in the cacophony of games being shown off. Brilliant.
And to add insult to injury, who is the target for all of this? Yeah, the tech is neat, voice commands and whatnot. But the audience for cable/dish tv is dwindling, while internet viewing is growing. Sorry but I'm not spending money for cable/dish programming just to spend another fee to watch it through my Xbox. That's retarded. And it's yet another box! All the system does is add a nifty user interface over it! So yes, let's have a conference to announce that your shiny new gaming console is the most advanced television player on the market. Yeah, that gets my wallet happy. But wait, it gets better! No used games, mandatory online connection, forced game installs, and Kinect. The system design looks monolithic, somehow straddling that awkward point of minimalism, boring, and creepy. The eye is always watching you. It waits. It knows. I wasn't terribly impressed with the PS4, but at least they focused on what mattered: video games! The only thing Microsoft managed to accomplish was to reaffirm that they never should have entered into this industry in the first place. At the very least, Nintendo is probably walking on water right now. This was a better gift than they could have ever hoped for. And if Sony is smart, they're walking back any of the stupid ideas they had (and you know they had them) now that they've seen the backlash against MS.

I'm pro Sony dude. So I'm guessing that's great news. Never was good at math. I suck when it comes to numbers or understanding them, sadly.
