Bottom comment. Now this is the correct way of doing things. This guy got it and I applaud him.

Wouldn't really say that makes her the mastermind. A catalyst is more like. She's no chessmaster.

Dear lord. I'mma give this episode a 6/10. It wasn't absolutely terrible. But so many unnecessary ass pulls happened.

The entirety of class 77 being alive served no purpose whatsoever. They could have just as well pulled off that scene with just the remaining members.

A special antidote created during the game that counteracts the bracelet's poison and conveniently putting the victim in a near death state? Dear lord that opens up way more plot holes than it closes.

Both series were pretty decent up until this point, if I must grade it, about 8/10 and I'm not dissatisfied with the overall conclusion (the game was set up by one of the Future Foundation, the remnants of despair stopped by to fix things, as well as take the blame upon themselves, Naegi becomes the new headmaster of a new version of HPA at some point in the future), but that one. single. episode did all the wrong things to get there.

The only thing I liked about the class 77 fiasco was Komaeda fawning over Naegi. I liked that scene. But they could just as well have made that an omake or something.

Despite DR1, I'll never trust Kodaka to permanently kill off anyone ever again.

So now we still have that Nagito OVA to watch, right? I wonder what this one is going to be about.

One thing I did like was the explanation for how AI Nanami was so accurate. It didn't really need an explanation per se, but it does make a lot of sense.

I just read the synopsis. It takes place at the end of SDR2 and before DR3, and is a special episode that is going to explain what was Nagito doing after he woke up from the coma.

And suddenly, that crazy theory about Nagito being the one who was talking to Naegi through Monokuma starts to make more sense to me. Specially when you remember Nagito's talent is the same as Naegi's and how he was fangirling all over him.

Still don't get how Robo-Gekkogahara's Rabbit got hacked or if it was staged by Monaca.

There are many points I could talk about but these four will do for now:

1) Class 77 alive and well. I won't lie, I was disappointed that they showed up in the hope episode to be honest. I knew that Hajime would have found a way to wake them up eventually, since he had the talents at his disposal to do so. I just didn't think he would have done it so quickly, too quickly in my opinion. Oh well.

2) Kyoko being alive. Doesn't bother me at all but I am a pretty accepting person about such things. I can see why some won't like it but what's done is done. She is alive and that's that, like it or not. To be fair the signs were all there for her survival so it wasn't much of a mystery.

3)The brainwashing. The main issue for me was the use of a video to do it, not that brainwashing itself was involved. I wish Junko made it a more personal thing rather than just doing it via remote control, so to speak, but what's done is done. Before anyone asks, yes I know it was mentioned in the second game (as pointed out by those who justify it). But it was never specified WHAT type of brainwashing was used (never mentioned by said proponents for some reason).

4) Tengan's plan and motive. Tengan's execution of his plan to spread hope made little sense and that's all I'll say about it. His motive for doing so actually makes more sense to me, especially when you read his and Mitarai's character bios. I'll leave the relevant lines here:

Tengan: 'He laments on exterminating any despair and aims for a peaceful world without conflict.'

Mitarai: 'He has a timid personality, but a strong sense of justice, and he wants to fill the world with hope.'

Make of those what you will.

Overall the anime was satisfactory. Not the greatest ever of course but certainly not the worst either. Looking forward to V3.

Well, dang, I certainly wasn't expecting the whole party to crash.

Also, if Kodaka was going to asspull this much, I wish he went all the way and brought back Chiaki along with everyone else. There's some weird trade-off between the 77th and 78th class, with the 77th all surviving, and the majority of the 78th dead, but then Naegi gets to be with the heroine.

I am also sorely, sorely disappointed there was no epic finger pointing. What a waste.

The finale also really could have used some sort of villain to defeat. Even if it isn't the mastermind.

If Kirigiri and Naegi should ever have a kid, they better name it Seiko.
I wouldn't say it was the cure was developed mid-game. It was probably the Cure W we saw Seiko use on Bandai, but it was too late on him.

Overall, I love Danganronpa, but I found this a tad disappointing.
Tengan was senile, lack of characterization and backstory and some unanswered stuff. Perhaps they were simply red herrings, but for example, who the fuck was the 13th Branch head?
But yeah, I loved Tengan as badass old leader who was kicking ass and could shittalk like a pro.
His plan was stupid though.
I did like how Chisa trolled the plan. She basically committed suicide (duh) in episode 1 in two ways.
She pretty much willingly got herself brainwashed into suicide so Munakata suffers.

Speaking of Munakata, I like how he ended up losing everything but won something in return.
He lost his love, his bro, his position, his dreams and his hope, but he ended up as a better person.

Juzo was a interesting character too. Doesn't happen too often that we get a gay character without him being some clichee bishie or a gag character.
It's amazing, I think, how he started off as this loose canon who could only be hated but ended up as someone who would do anything for the man he loves, even if it means disgracing himself.
In there was that mix of guilt, shame and love.
He fucked up a great lot. Heck, he ended the game but it resulted in Mitarai being unleashed.
But in the end, he was never a bad person but willing to do everything and anything for Munakata.
Kicking someone in a wheelchair or being set to hit Asahina. It looks like he's a complete asshole but in the end, it was all compensation and readiness to do anything for Munakata. That's what I mean being him having no issue disgracing himself.

I'm not going to go into the Jabberwock Events, I'm certain that the Nagito OVA will feature whatever occured there.
Who knows, maybe we'll see them there.
I did see rumors too that the one who shot at Hagakure was the 13th Head, Ultimate Pilot, Helios.
But without a legit source, I won't believe that.

Hope was a 7-8 for me objectively. 10/10 for excitement and Danganronpa fanservice.

Yea, I think when looking back on DR3, this factor cannot be understated. DR3 was is one of those shows where more than the show itself, it was about its context, as an ending to a long-form narrative which many already invested themselves into; it was also about that heavily invested fanbase being brought together for the experience, and DR3 managed to do so in a way the games, as a solitary experience, never could.

Repeat watching will never be the same without Juzoboys, Hajimemes, Persona, HOPE and DESPAIR, and the collective emotions of the community at every twist and dumb turn. It might have ended with a whimper, but there definitely was a decent ride this 12 weeks.

Well I think this was better than a despair outcome although also felt pretty cheesy in the end.

In the meantime, I'm glad to see that Kirigiri is back in the end.

I sort of thought the NWP parsing their memories made the most sense although it was kind of muddled after Despair 11. I guess it explains why Izuru dragged all of 77 into the NWP for his despair vs. hope science experiment. In that sense I suppose my headcanon for DRAE will be that he took the Junko AE to Towa City to make it extra authentic. After all, what good is a Junko AE without a killing game on her resume?

Also, isn't there some kind of Kirigiri VN coming too? Not sure what its about though. It might be unrelated, like Naegi's Worst Day.

I wish to say something on that. Is kind of baffling no one seemed to have realize.

But weren't the Remnants of Despair, eh, behaving like they knew everything about what transpired during the Killing Game? Mikan and Mahiru were talking so nonchalantly about the bangles and the poison, and Hajime headed to the meeting room to meet Chisa as if he already knew her body was lying there. Mikan also seemed to know where Kirigiri was and nursed her back.

Is something I cannot get out of my head. And this without forgetting how appropiate was their timing when they made it to the FF.

I didn't find it necessary for Class 77 to take the blame for FF killing.

Could've said Tegan became Remnant of Despair and that's that.

With Munakata and Naegi confirming this fact.

I don't think Class 77 took that decision out of a whim. There's an upcoming OVA that is likely going to be focused entirely on Jabberwock island.

There's also a good number of things that haven't been answered and that I wonder if Kodaka is going to explain them in the OVA or what.

Like...

- Who was that rolled that ball? Most likely Chisa, but is important.

- Who was talking through Monokuma in that LIVE?

- Why was the 13th branch head absent and conveniently allowed Asahina to take part in the meeting?

- The survivor counter. It went down when Yukizome died, but Monokuma confirmed Hagakure wasn't counted in the game. So why was only one person deducted instead of two?

- Who summoned Mitarai to the meeting? And who was it that did send him that message despite Tengan had been dead for quite a while.

And a certain picture I cannot seem to get out of my head.

Some of these things are only questions if you have a persistent problem with being unable to distinguish what you want, what you believe, and what you know from each other, but okay, sure, why not.

Another thing I wanted to say, during the 4th time limit Asahina acted really strange and even out of character in a good number of occasions. In fact, the picture I have in mind and that I cannot get out of my head also features her.

Like how she looked straight at Gekkogahara's eyes (camera) and nonchalantly called her a "Warrior of Hope". You know, the same guys that killed her brother and had many of her friends in their hit list.

I think Alpha Knight is referring to two different versions of the same scene.
One where Asahina had a slightly messy(Monca vision) hairstyle than in the other (original);

Imho a mistake of the animators.
