Either way, I'm always weary of these results. At this point, I'm semi-derailing the topic, so I will say Simon is clearly the best character in the show. |

How close is it to reality? Dunno. Numbers can be spun in some pretty interesting ways. And media does like to exaggerate for ratings. Anyway, unintentional thread derailing aside, (which I do apologize for instigating), I still find myself praising this episode for handling the subject in a mature way without trying to dress it up heavily or hammer the message into the viewer into a preachy sermon. That there's all of these other bits of social commentary I find interesting in addition to that just really hammers home how much better I felt episode two was compared to one.

It's the outcome of that scenario that is fueling the answers imo. Quote:

Angst or not, if I remember correctly suicide among young people in japan is quite high so one can see where the storyline comes from Izaya is definitely high on my list of "interesting" characters but I totally digging the vending machine throwing guy at the moment XD

====== I'm also stuck on Orihara (Izaya) and vending machine guy. Loving how Kamiyan is voicing the former too... ack, though I'm finding Kida darned amusing too, in the kind of way...

lol, given what Superknuckles said about asian societies percieving suicide as a way to send a message (since I was reading all the spoilers people were posting before I watched the episode) I just kinda assumed from Yagiri's speech ('something to do that's more important than my life', 'may never come to school again' , etc.) that he was planning to be a jumper too. So he's not suicidal? Just doesn't want to attend school? Alright, guess I'll find out next episode then.
