More OVA's from the 80's?

There simply isn't enough OVA's from the 80's fansubbed!

I find it crazy that fansub groups spend most of their time dedicated to long tv series when short OVA's are much less time consuming.

OVA's are also better animated than tv series due to larger budgets.

We need more OVA's, who agrees?

Yah main problem would be finding the raws. I was looking for some unsubbed ovas to do, but again, finding raw would be hard unless we pay for the dvds
If anyone have a raw then we will be happy to look at that ^^

Shinsen tries to do a lot of old stuff, but we never have any raws. At least cyprene is willing to translate most of the old stuff we do get raws for ^_-

The other problem is with standards today, we'd need a dvdiso to work with, or we'd have to work with LQ raws, which is sorta unacceptable by today's standards. What ever happened to just watching a fansub for a fansub? ^_^

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the intended range of "the 80s", but most unsubbed shows I can think of from that time period you won't get DVDs for. LDs are probably the best source medium for those, and they're costly and more than a little difficult to find.

It's not really an OVA nor any kind of short series, but I have a bunch of DVD-rip raws of the first ~100 episodes of Kiteretsu Daihyakka sitting around, I really would like subbed. Even just a few episodes of it I just don't have the time/willpower to do anything about it myself, so if anyone is interested in taking them over do tell.
The files are low-quant XviD with original AC3 sound in MKV, about 300-500 MB/ep.

lol, Doraemon spinoff? Looks cute.

Where could I get/leech an ep off you? Can't promise I'll do anything with it, but perhaps. I would like to have a look at any rate.

The ED2K network is fairly good for finding rare stuff. I remember finding some older anime there (90s/80s), however the quality is very often questionable, and then till the stuff downloads can range from weeks to months for a few episodes...

You can catch me on Rizon IRC, I usually sit in the Aegisub, gg and Eclipse channels. The files are on another computer that isn't set up right now, though.

Oh, and indeed it's the same character designer as Doraemon

Great to know there are other fans out there that feel the same.

I actually have a raw of Machikado no Meruhen which is a great romance OVA from 1984.

I can supply it to anyone who wishes to fansub it, it's a very high quality rip from laserdisc.

The best place to get raws is Yahoo Auctions Japan but unfortunately you would need to find someoen who can bid and ship the VHS or Laserdisc to you since most users do not ship internationally.

If i could see any OVA subbed it would be California Crisis from 1986.

How long is that Machikado OVA? Looks interesting... I might have some interest in it, however can't say anything further than that for now (would have to consult with a few people...).

Not as hard as you might think. There are a number of deputy services that exist to do just that. I've heard good things about Celga.

I'm trying to gather up a bundle of the GeGeGe no Kitaro raws from the 1980s version... quite a task when Winny hates me

I'm hoping that someone'll take the bait and sub the full 115 episodes.
