Are they doing this to hype up the next World Cup that gonna happen soon? Kinda like the 2002 Tsubasa?

I'm expecting references to actual famous players too.

So can we expect that this will fully adapt the original manga w/o fillers?

Too many copyright issues. In the 2002 anime, they even changed the Barcelona's shirts. Also, I wonder if Tsubasa will have a different actor once he grows up. In South America he was given Fry's voice from Futurama

One of the first anime I've watched in my childhood. I only remembered watching the original 1983 series and the 2001 remake and I liked them a lot. I hope this new series will feel more of the same quality-wise.

I hope they at least call out Sergio Aguero, since he has a Tsubasa tattoo and he got his nickname "Kun" because he was a fan of the series as a kid in Argentina.

I have the exact same question about this new series. As far as I know all thedufferent manga from this are done, maybe they will continue from where it was left many years ago until the end?

I hope this one will be a long term project that will cover everything from the beginning. At the pace such huge project might take, the current Olympic campaign in the manga will be done and ready for adaptation.

Captain Tsubasa was one of the first anime I ever saw, with Genzo being the only anime character I've ever cosplayed as, so I'm intrigued.

I kind of hope they modernize it... I want to see anime versions of Messi and Christiano Ronaldo.

Right, Messi currently holds the title of the best player.

And adult Tsubasa's team is none than Barcelona FC. Still, I wonder how the pacing of games will be. The 2002 anime already had fast pace to the point some matches lasted for only one episode

One minute and I remembered Takahashi's weak point: Traffic accidents. They happen a lot in the manga.

EDIT: I finally watched it with subs. The animation didn't disappoint but Suzumura makes Wakabayashi sound even older than Kamui Shiro from X. Also, the ending was a nice tribute to the first anime.
