Tournaments aside, I enjoyed this week's rotation. I got to play with Azir, Rek'sai, Gnar and Velkoz! Out of them I liked Gnar the least, his boomerang feels weird and his passive is even weirder. Most fun was definitely Vel'koz, his passive is an amazing tool for lane harassment and his kit is very effective against pretty much anyone...it's too bad he doesn't have a dash like Azir. Rek'sai was rather mediocre. I get it, burrow heals like SC2 roaches but her damage is all over the place, I see why some people prefer to tank her up instead of betting on her presence as an assassin.

Its a frustrating but informative playoffs bracket.
I don't like throwing TSM much flak but they seem to be reactive in nature. Respectable team but C9 is a tempered scrim partner so I'm not really surprised by the result. As TL grows as a team I think TSM will have to learn how to play against some teams with a different lane presence and skill cap. TIP as well. As for EU, UoL definitely has a great style, but this style also gave the the 9-9 record. Certainly beneficial for Bo5 if you're going to go ham with unconventional picks, but in the split its hurt them. They need to find a strategy other than cheese. Fnatic is good, great games by them. What can you say? I think Huni is a possible weakpoint to bans, however. H2K is Ryu-powered and Kasing optimized a really good team with great lanes for some great early game strats. It will be interesting to see how they hone their team identity. SK just fumbles. They could have easily gone to the finals, or easily acquired 3rd place. Its not even funny how they've robbed themselves of these chances. However, their team is also one that is inexperienced in playing under pressure and cohesion.

Patch notes are out and OF COURSE Ryze's Q becomes a skillshot His ratios have been tweaked, but he gets a natural 30% CDR and his overload is cheap as hell to cast. Even though Riot modified his kit, the fact that his damage scales with mana keeps his in the same niche: in a meta where glass cannons and full tanks test the limits of a player's skill, Ryze can opt for a balanced build that offers maximum efficiency. Of course, it IS a late-game spike, so he should be pretty susceptible to cheese.
On item changes, I'm worried about the cleaver's non-brutalizing nature... |

So, new Ryze...gets blue, unloads all sorts of pain. The passive shield only compliments the spellvamp from his ultimate and his passive is actually stronger at lower levels, since it reduces spell CD by Q's CD, which is originally 3.4 seconds. Wave clear is, however, more troublesome and can get in the way of certain ganks...but he's still beast.
P.S: For the extra 10% CDR, if you're not using runes/masteries....go for that banner of command :L |
