That's hard to believe given how huge the Haruhi franchise is. I mean, for example, in the case of Index its fans keep releasing the manga although it is not that good and everything in there has been covered by the anime so far. As you said, the licensing must have something to do with it but even so, I just can't shake the feeling that something is off with this. Anyways, thanks for your time.

Hello, Haruhi fans and current and previous viewers!
I might end up as a slowpoke here, but I just picked up the series, and is starting with season 1 on broadcast order.

Is Episode 1 supposed to be cut off at the start of the battle?

No. That episode ends at another point.

Personally, I'd recommend you watch what's called the 2009 order which puts the episodes in chronological order and then watch the movie to put the series in chronological order. The "broadcast order" was a way to provide a gimmick to 14 episodes which doesn't apply now that they "re-aired" the series in that order.

Someone told me to go watch it in broadcast order, lol. I'm not that confused though, since the "School Festival Movie Episode" looks like a standalone story in itself.

So I should go for the chronological order instead to avoid confusion?

It's not so much confusion as it's how the show is supposed to be watched now. There's a certain subset of fans who want to get others to watch the original 14 episodes how they did (in broadcast order) when it's been changed. The JP releases have set everything in that 2009 order for a reason. I'd say you should watch it in that order (with the whole 28 episodes). Otherwise you'll say that "season 2" (a misnomer) is boring.

No, that's episode 25. Remember, it's one season of 28 episodes, not two seasons each of 14.

if so where can I find them?

Sooo if I want to watch Haruhi, i should just jump to the 2009 version one? Won't I miss things from the 2006 version or what? Sorry, I dunno exactly how to watch this merely because of this reason. Hope you can clear it up for me. Thanks!

The 2009 version has all the episodes of the 2006 version and 14 more. You won't miss anything by watching it. Just remember to watch the movie afterwards to really "finish" that season.

Yeah, they have all the illustrations; the black and white ones are more or less where they are in the Japanese versions, and all the color illustrations (including the original covers) are in the back of the books.

Thanks. Did this series end with The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya or is there still more to come?

No official ending of the series that we are aware of at this time. Just nothing new as of yet either.
