The manga itself grows a lot from the first chapters where a number of readers were put off by Umaru's childish attitude. By chapter 50 or so there's nothing left to do but enjoy a very cute, very charming story full of lovely characters. I'm not sure if the adaptation will go that far, but if it remains as faithful as the first episode has been, this is literally only going to get better.
A little worried about Sylphie's voice acting from what little we've heard from her -- I'm hoping for a more...waifish...interpretation, given that Sylphie is a Disney princess who got lost in the wrong series -- but Umarun's VA is doing it right. Now if the translator would accidentally slip in a Norway joke or two... |

Ep 02
"I am sure she was plotting something ... but she fell asleep." An Ebina episode though. Also... Whoulda thought both onii-san and Ebina were rock-paper-scissors champs? And poor Ebina ... totally taken advantage of by onii-san to sabotage Umaru's plots. So it seems when Ebina get's inspired or excited or something she goes into the accented mode/dialect she grew up with. eh? Good for onii-san. A little simple kindness can go a long way sometimes. A nice character on the whole, and interestingly through her we are able to see different aspects of the Domas as well. ^^ Doga Koba is doing a really good job adapting this manga thus far - I hope they can keep it up! Looks like next ep we get the small black haired glaring character focused on - looking forward to it!

So smooth, onii-chan... so smooth No wonder Ebina-chan high over heels toward him.
Also, gotta gives props to studio Dogakobo in animating bouncing object. Their expertise really shining in this series. |

I kinda like Ebina tbh. She's cute and timid but very kind for a girl of her personality. As for Umaru, I could tell that she was able to explode this episode because of the lack of gaming she had at the restaurant lol
At least she got her dose of coca cola

Maybe it's just me because we usually see Umaru in her chibi form, but her fashion sense is spot on. I have to say that the type of clothes and color coordination we see her in are lovely.
I can totally relate to Umaru in a lot of ways, which is a bad thing.

Since Umaru-chan is YJ and Soma is SSJ, I'd love to see a crossover where Ebina-chan meets Megumi.
With all that shyness and Touhoku accent and all.

from now on i 'll nickname Umaru's chibi hamster form 'Facehugger' mode as in from the Alien series,
how Ebina managed to not notice Umaru going berserk at big bro right in front of her which involves yelling & jumping around on him is a wonder, is the food really that good that it temporary blocks her basic bodily senses? or the food made her stoned

Anyways, about to watch ep 2, really like seeing this animated, and the manga just keeps getting better too so I hope to see that here as well. I felt in ep1 they did a good job of showing off plenty of cute from umaru whereas in the manga she felt incredibly bratty and unlikeable at first. |

Ebina was great! It's as if she was created to embody the term Moe. One thing that really stood out to me was the voice acting. When Umaru asked for Last Fantasy Fifteen she said fifteen very well... I know it isn't that big of a deal but it stands out for me when a voice actress can cross languages well.

Ebina best Moe.
Why can't Ebina be the Imouto... But than again... if she was, we wouldn't be able to see all these Super Cute Shy Ebina. I want a Ebinaa in RL too... best GF ever. (plus, she comes with the ability to make your sister act like a proper girl) PS: she's the reason I didn't drop the manga (refer to my previous comment) |

that was kinda creepy with ebina coming to tokyo plp turning in their seats to stare at an underage girls breasts. Even having a fully grown man commenting in public. That one comment she made about everyone is staring but no one looked into her eyes, felt so bad for her
