I just hope that they don't bring back the same voices from SAC. I hated those voices, that was the one thing I couldn't stand from that show.

Do you mean the Japanese or English cast one ? If you couldn't stand the Japanese cast from SAC, then I think ARISE's cast may appeal to you, since it was completely different from SAC.

The Japanese Tachikomas were slightly more bearable than English ones, but that's like saying that its more bearable to be punched in the gut as opposed to stab; I desire neither.

Looks like the Japanese site calls the "komas" in Arise as "Lojikomas".

Hmm... Guess I should have pointed out that some places named the robots as "Rojikomas".

So... am I the only one who liked them from the start?

I never watched them in English, so I can't comment on those versions, but I always kinda liked the Japanese voices for them.

I loved the Japanese voice acting for GitS: SAC, and love the English voice acting even more. But, different strokes for different folks. In fact, the two seasons of SAC are on my short list of television shows I'll just play as background noise (in English) while I'm doing other stuff around the house.

If Arise ever does get an English dub, I can't envision it ever being better than what SAC got, as I'd rank SAC's dub among the top 3-5 dubs ever.

Bunch of new characters featured in the first episode are on the site now. Also, Logicoma = Miyuki Sawashiro. Lol.

Hrm. If the google translate for all those character bios are anything to go by, then this is about as related to SAC (if there was any doubt) as SAC was to the original movie.

Still excited though.

Tsumugi is the most strange character revealed. He is the guy who maintains all the cyborgs in the unit, but he is actually two people; the two brain of identical twins are sharing one body, and regularly converse with each other.

They didn't say it, but I suspect they might have been conjoined twins at birth and decided to stay together as one cyborg.

Organisation 501 seems to be a training facility, as two of the new characters are Instructors. So even Motoko has to learn the ropes before she becomes "Major".

Oh, it appears to have an entirely new voice cast.

That said, I think Mayaa Sakamoto can pull off the "Major" just fine. I'm thinking of her performance in Caanan, as an example (as opposed to her performance as Lunamaria Hawke in Gundam SEED ).

And, Miyuki Sawashiro as the thinktanks (or, logictanks). Yea, I can live with that.

Though they have essentially an unknown as Batou. That's the only other voice that needs to nail it for me not to be driven to distraction over the voice changes. Hope he turns out alright.

If there's a dub just get all the gang back, especially the Major. They did it with FMA:B, when the Japanese cast was entirely changed, Funimation still got their original cast to return.

I was going to write about how some of the English cast was getting long in the tooth, and how it might be difficult to do, and I was looking up specific cast members and came to a shock...

...there are TWO different english casts?!!!!?!

Apparently there's a separate Animax version...

Now, when talking about the GitS dubs, I wonder how often I've been talking about completely different performances from others.

For the record, I love (and have only heard), the dub that had Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Motoko, and Richard Epcar as Batou. I don't even know who Andrea Kwan and Russell Wait are. :/
