One of the brightest stars ever to shine in the universe of voice actors, June Foray, passed away recently at 99 years of age. No less an authority than Chuck Jones, director of many of the "Looney Tunes" cartoons, reportedly once commented that “June Foray is not the female Mel Blanc. Mel Blanc was the male June Foray.”

Foray, at 94, was the oldest person ever to win an Emmy for a single performance. She also received an Emmy Governors' Award for her enormous and varied body of work. Foray's best-known characters include Rocky the Flying Squirrel, his nemesis Natasha Fatale, Tweety, and an incredible array of hags, witches, brats, and the like in "Fractured Fairy Tales" and other subsidiaries of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

While I have not known her specifically when I was younger, there is no doubt that she had a great influence over what I watched from a very early age. A great loss for the world.
