Very nice episode for Wakaba and Himawari. With this episode, VRO has done a really good job fleshing these two characters out, and giving them nice, well-rounded personalities.
Himawari as the techy nerd that just happens to have a beautiful model-esque appearance continues to be a superb character concept. This episode is one of the freshest-feeling anime episodes I've watched in a very long time, and the uniqueness of Himawari's overall character is a big part of the reason why. A school beauty that would rather tour factories than tour shopping malls, and would rather talk to scientists than talk to top fashion model professionals - What a very neat and amusing character concept. The Alone battle was decent. It made for a good action-y adrenaline rush to cap off what was an otherwise excellent slice of life-esque anime episode. VRO handles this particular blend very well.

Episode 09
That was a very fun ep. From the get-go, I have been pushing Himawari's and Wakaba's friendship, and they have an entire ep for it
Himawari was so cute here. That's exactly the kind of face I make when I'm at my computer looking at pitures of my waifu's I got a major problem with that first date I mean shopping trip. WHERE'S HER GLORIOUS ZZZZZZZZZETTAI RYOUIKI StOCKINGS?!?!?? I was betrayed of the perfect stitched image Akane's continually infecting me with her eheeheehee she's been doing it a lot more recently. Himawari: "are you an idiot?" Akane: eheeheehee mangatron: "Akane, I like you! Please marry me!"in a few years. Akane: eheeheehee You know what, I bet she'll go 'eheeheehee' at least once in the bath next ep. She has to, if she doesn't I'll... no longer ban my lolitron nickname So the entire first half of the ep was devoid of butt shots. None I say! Until... WAKABUTT!!!! When Himawari called Wakaba an idiot, I thought she'd called her Bakaba Another gripe though, that was a model shoot on the beach, WHY DIDN'T THEY DO A SWIMSUIT EDITION?!? A GIRL ON THE WARM SANDY BEACHES MUSY BE IN A SWIMSUIT OR ELSE ACK *mangatron is secret techniqu'ed by Wakaba* I'm continually pissed at that crow though, you can't blame Rei-chan for not reaching that de-orbiting Alone considering he's thousands of feet above Earth megane HimaHima Quote:
By me, of course. That girl needs to vent sometimes, and as the premier M here, I'm just what she needs |

The director supposedly apologized for the dips in quality of episode 9 on his blog. Well not really that direct, but I assume he's referring about it.

And now we have the director apologizing on his blog for "any and all irregularities in the picture quality of ep. 9". Seems like I wasn't the only one to notice the time-frozen crowds and other odd stuff in the episode.
http://vanishingpoint.air-nifty.com/...post-0ecc.html I hope that won't be a recurring problem... Edit: So yeah, xizro345 beats me to it.

Well at least they know. Blurays will save it, I guess. But how did they miss it? Himawari's zettai legs were so obvious.... let me guess, they were too focused on Wakabutt, right?
Quote:
Leading the way is more casual clothes Wakabutt! Look at those hot pants desperately trying to contain her cute butt! That's not yuri! It's.... just... it was raining in episode 09, ja, so like... Himawari's just checking Wakaba's temperature! The following images are destructive to your mind, I must red tag them: That.... that concludes my report! *runs* |

It was good to see Himawari have her day in the sun
If this continues, then Himawari and Wakaba will soon be able to do an "union" in a certain other way Quote:

damn, episode 9 was building my hopes up, but no dice.
Was sure that after the social link level up between Yellow+Green, that they would combine. Especially when ViviBlue got in trouble, but no. Just a regular tag-team combo to win the day. A Sword&Shield ViviPurple would make sense two with the two combining.

This episode was a lot more enjoyable than I'd have imagined. Near the end I started to hope they'd dock but then remembered last ep on what Dr. Isshiki said...damn him what a flaw in the Vivid System. They should dock with whoever they choose! I liked Himawari quite a bit, but after this episode man I like her even more. I kind of actually want to see an episode of her exploring factories and showing Wakaba everything. Now there's other characters from other series with similar interests of the sort (can't think of any names at the moment...). Though I don't remember feeling as touched by their enthusiasm for it as much as I was by Himawari this episode. Can't wait for next ep! PS megane Himawari =

We don't need to see Rei's breasts uncensored, for their greatest appeal lies not in having them outright before us, but in having their fullness concealed just out of sight.

VROOM 09 - AR Apps Are Worth a Fortune
This episode was pretty good for a lot of things, especially Himawari and Wakaba's relationship (though her room may not have changed much in its upkeep, at least she's not permanently in the dark now), but what I got out of it was a lot of the culture of this universe. That there are mascots based on the Engine is a not uncommon thing in Japan, though it gave me memories of Fuuto-kun from Kamen Rider W. They never did have a Dopant based on him. Though the Engine is really closer to Enetron... anyway. The idea that Himawari has a sizable amount of money just from writing an app for a smartphone or something also ties this world to our modern day pretty well, and once again shows the culture. What kind of app did she write anyway? Something practical, or something fun? For Himawari, those two seem to be the same thing. Stock footage they may be, but seeing the transform sequences and the Vivid forms being used without much fanfare does make this feel like a magical girl show, like a superhero show, and in another world, this could've easily gone on for a long time with several episodes like this one. But there's a time and a place for that kind of story, and 12 episodes is fine, too. My only minor complaint remains that I wish the simulcast was a little faster. I always feel like I'm late. |
