Is it just me or has this Ep01 been more Anime-Original than Manga-Adapted?
Yeah, I actually started reading the manga after I watched the first episode (can't believe I missed this one) and was surprised by how different the first chapter was compared to the anime.

At least I'll have something else I'll be watching this season. After being disappointed in Hundred and Wagamama (three minutes of ecchi basically), I'm glad I've found something other than Asterik Season 2 and Netogame to watch.

B-but..... she's 14! I can't say anything else or it would become incriminating evidence against me

And yeah the pics look nice one after the other

The anime seems to emphasize her legs very much, at times her legs are really long, and it makes her look CLAMP tall Not that I'm complaining, but it seems this artwork is following on with that and glorifying her legs

I think episode 2 was alright, still pretty generic but also fun to watch especially with the interactions between Benio and Rokuro. Action is neat during their battle as well and that ending was priceless (although obvious).

I'm kinda interested to see what they plan to add to the background storytelling though with what they already shown so far.

Episode 2 was pretty good. In some ways liked it more than the first one.

Liked the fact that both of them actually are on a pretty similar level. Rokuro can bring the power and Benio has some pretty insane speed going there. Probably different threats that they both can handle better than the other. And when facing off it can get pretty messy.

While it was a pretty standard bait thrown at Rokuro, I don't blame him for biting. For someone who has had the deaths of his friends as a massive trauma for years...having them be badmouthed like that would piss off anyone. I'm more surprised Benio could force the fight to stay between them rather than Rokuro taking her attacks in order to secure a punch to face of the leader.

Good setup. Both have reasons for their backgrounds and personalities. And damn...talk about putting them in a tough spot there. "So yeah...you two are hooking up in the future to create the ultimate super child. Thanks :P"

They're not on similar levels at all. Benio is really fast but her attacks are weak. She landed quite a lot of hits on Rokuro but couldn't do any major damage. On the other hand, Rokuro successfully baited her into coming from above, and would have destroyed her if Arima didn't stop the fight right there. It was going to be a clash between Benio's enchanted sword and Rokuro's demonic arm, and we know his arm is way stronger than her swords.

At this point Benio can't cope with powerful, resilient enemies, and the OP shows an enemy with the same demonic arm that Rokuro has. I can guess that Benio will be useless in that fight unless she manages to level up somehow.

Shame that they removed the dialogue of Rokuro's inter though of him admiring Benio's strength when they're fighting. Some aspects of Benio's old granny is given to the her familiar and making her granny seem less bitchy compared to the manga. Honestly with the pace it going, 52 episode seem too much.

Also our official couple is born, all hail Rokuro x Benio.

Most of your posts on this thread so far seem to be about playing up Rokuro a lot, and downplaying Benio a lot. It's almost as though you just don't like Benio... but given some of the anime characters she makes me think of, I doubt it's that.

So my guess is that you're familiar with the source material and are prepping anime-original audiences for what is to come (I personally am not familiar with the source material, so this is a total guess on my part).

Given the type of show this is, I don't doubt Rokuro will be the most special character in this show. There are already some hints leading that way - A lot being Benio's own inner monologues where she thinks about Rokuro.

In any event, please stop prepping anime-original audiences for what is to come, if that's what is going on here. I appreciate you not wanting viewers to get a mistaken impression, but I think it's best for anime-only viewers to experience and learn things organically through the anime itself. Besides, this prepping can have negative side-effects.

This early on it's good if viewers are a little awed and impressed by the major fighting protagonists. It's good if viewers find Benio cool and impressive in action. Undermining that this early on could seriously hurt her character and how much viewers appreciate her.

There are characters in Bleach, for example, that were awesome early on, but seemed less impressive (or outright forgotten) later on. Nonetheless, those early moments of glory stuck with many viewers, and it was good for those particular characters.

Honestly both Rokuro and Benio aren't really that strong in the grand scheme of thing, it just that Rokuro will get his power up faster and is the lesser of a leeroy jenkin compared to Benio which made people AKA manga reader think that Rokuro > Benio.

That's unfair. Just taking this episode in a vacuum, Rokuro's clearly stronger than Benio. Rokuro sends Benio flying with a mere flick of his arm. Can you even imagine what he could do to her if he wasn't holding back, if he was attacking her like he attacked the Impurity last episode? The result wouldn't be pretty. And he was smarter too, successfully setting her up to eat his fit head on at the end. Benio was lucky Arima stopped the fight right there.

That's all stuff from this episode. It has nothing to do with the manga or whatever. And for the record, I like Benio just fine.

What a ship. I can get behind rokuro and benio.
Benio and rokuro are basically dps vs burst from how I see it.

School hijinks next episode is gonna be fun. I'm excited.

That was certainly an impressive episode, especially the fight scenes.

I'm slowly beginning to warm up to Benio.

I just hope Rokuro is prepared to face what's coming at him, especially their impending "marriage".

I'm really enjoying this. Moves quickly and gets things done. I'm not a fan of Bleach-type shounen, but maybe the romantic aspect (if romance is involved here at all, lol) helps me accept this. The pace is great, anyway, and I'm coming to accept young chisel-tooth as he gets more things to face.

Does seem what it comes down to. A pretty standard power vs speed, dps vs burst, division between the two leads.

Should certainly be some fun school hijinks ahead. Though really any situation where you'll have these two butting heads should be good.
