Again Tama is best girl.
Sometimes I think that the Chis are really her daughters. Glad that this show isn't enough dark for that, or a soap opera of my country. Example: "You not only are my daughter, you are my sister too!" Me: What the actual fuck? Yeah, in this case the situation would be the reverse, but would be ugly. |

Any part with the Chi-chans and Sue or Shino just melts my heart. Somehow their half human differences enhances the whole kids doing cute kids' stuff even more potent.
I wonder if Sue's health problem is due to her hybrid genes of being half angel and half cat people.

Well, the season ended on no especial note. I certainly feel there is far more we could explore about this world in a second season.
As for Hime's eternal question in the last segment (Why are we arm wrestling?) My Doylist explanation would be "We're almost out of budget after the RPG segment!" |

The series was using a piece of BGM which strongly reminded me of something used in Lucky Star. Is there some connection between the two?
Overall, I have to say this series was a bit of a disappointment. It seemed to have some pretty strong ideas behind it but never mustered the courage to address them directly. I particularly was intrigued by the "equality takes precedent over civil liberties" idea but outside of that one statement, they seem to just shy away from any further exploration. Also, they appeared to not have a clear outline for the series and tended to wander a bit. It could have been much better. Last edited by SeaDoor; 2017-09-24 at 15:30. Reason: typo |

Personally I wish they'd adapted the chapter with Akira and Nadeshiko, since that would have explained the "I lost, but she has the same face as you so it's fine" comment that I suspect nobody here even noticed, but that's because Akira's my favorite side-character so I always want more of her.
So... yes, Hime is very strong. They skipped pretty much all of the preceeding chapters where she proved it, though, so people who haven't noticed how she could carry Shino in one arm probably didn't really get the message until now. It's a centaur thing. Amazingly the anime managed to end up feeling even more disjointed than the manga (where the author seems to have basically just drawn chapters about whatever idea comes to mind, no matter how it fits with the previous material, and ends them as soon as his idea stops, even if it's right in the middle of a conversation and nowhere near a logical end point) by itself randomly cherry-picking chapters to adapt from anywhere in the manga, paying no attention to continuity. While I can say that this adaptation does represent some of what the manga has to offer, it is by no means a full, or even accurate, representation of the true nature of the manga. ...Assuming the manga can be said to have a true nature. Regardless, there's a lot more to it than what you see here. That doesn't necessarily mean that this was a bad anime. I think the chapters that they did adapt were generally adapted pretty well. I've enjoyed seeing and hearing the characters on screen, and this has been something to look forward to on Sundays. It may not have been as good as it should have been, but I still think it was a decent enough series.

Overall I found myself enjoying the anime and thought it was a "pretty good" adaptation on the whole. But only one that was "pretty good". Kinda wished they had been less "safe" and taken more "risks" (a bit more of these sorts of things can be found in the source manga), but for what it was it was plenty okay.
I would probably give it a 7.5/10 - I did enjoy it overall and moderately anticipated it week by week, but would have liked it if it could have successfully gone that "extra step".

The finale was weird...didn't even feel like a final episode. It fit more in the style of an OVA with the more heavy fan service from the first half and RPG style.
Overall, I still enjoyed the show but I was hoping the finale would of been better.

Bit of a lacklustre ending really. The famous people episode had far more punch and bite to it than this one. I get that the manga isn't really built around arcs, but couldn't they have finished on something a bit more deep or insightful?
Anyway, besides the fact they decided to end on a weak episode, I did enjoy the show quite a bit and look forward to watching it every week. It could admittedly be rather weird at times (let start with a Yuri kiss that goes no were and have merepeople who run around nude!), but it's world building, characterisation and ability to hit you in the feels were all rather impressive, with some of its social commentary being rather thought provoking. Going to give it a A- overall. While not perfectly done, it really went far beyond what most cute girls doing cute things shows do, even if it was a little too odd at times. |

They should really have tried to make a conclusive albeit 'our battle has just begun' farewell, rather than ending on weak note that did little to affirm the characters or their future motivations. If they're not going to reaffirm the friends' bonds like a typical SoL, they could have really sent them to a fantasy world, pretending that daily life was going to shockingly change, before going 'fooled you' and sending them back to their daily 'real world'.
