The best way to describe this is "A girl that doesn't know herself discover about the world while helping other people moving forward with their lifes and at the same time her own life". This is mixed with some anticlimatic moments with Comedy, excellent descriptions of the world and emotional moments, the writing is okay but in comparison Mahou tsukai no Yome is miles better than this.

Since it's episodic this will fit the anime format pretty well but if Kyoani don't use material from Vol 2 then people will feel absolutely confused at the end, unless Kyoani goes anime-original and that's always a bad thing (don't count Amagi).

This might be a first.
"Violet Snow" has been released in English, Korean, French and Chinese in the KyoAni official Youtube channel.

The Chinese version was performed in a lower key.
The English version (which different from the Japanese version which was sung in English by a Japanese singer) was performed by Kate Higgins, the English voice actress of C.C. from Code Geass.

While I appreciate the multi-language song PV, I do have to say my favorites are the original and French versions, followed by the Korean version. Something about Kate Higgins' rendition of it is... hrm. She's not a bad singer, I just don't like how she clumps some of the syllables together.

Netflix seem to be getting the message about delayed anime releases. In the UK, at least!

ANN: The Kyoto Animation series Violet Evergarden is listed on Netflix (here) as beginning in the UK on January 11.

Visually this first episode was gorgeous, the movement, the backgrounds, and designs are something that we can always expect from kyoani (there are some QUALITY moments tho).

Now when it comes to how they're adapting the story... I'm not so sure this was a good desition. For a series so incredibly shilled and hyped I expected something more faithful and since Kyoani's record with their "changes" is incredibly bad I'm not getting good vibes from the first episode. The flashbacks can be a way to introduce more focus on Violet tho, so maybe these changes can be something good after all.

Still I have hopes for this and the series will be one that I'll keep following, especially for Violet.

Surely, this is not a show that everyone will enjoy watching. You will either manage to sink yourself into the story and enjoy it or you will find it boring.

I like the way Violet Evergarden is protrayed from the first episode as well and bits of character chemistry between her and Gilbert is fairly well done. The amount of human emotions and body language expressed from this episode was interesting to notice. Really liked how the setting is done so far too and the character designs has a serene feel to them. The balance of the lighthearted style with the flashbacks of the war is also pretty interesting (I hope they do more storytelling on the war throughout this show) Very good first episode. I'm really looking forward to the rest especially for Violet's journey. __________________
