To be completely honest I don't think Herman is bad father. As far as I remember he ALWAYS pointing on Leon flaws, he ALWAYS told him loose a bit and enjoy life for bit (and even was showing him how it's done). And if his son refuse learn by easy way... hard way is only remaining option.

No, Leon, NO!

This episode was too much... I really did not expect Leon losing all. I do hope he won't become a villain now, that would be cliché. I want him to find his own way and not die right now!

It sure is easy to cheer for Alfonso now- he become the real hero and everything worked out for him in the end, except what happened to his mother. Still, he seems a bit too perfect now.

Mendoza's end was kind of pathetic- eaten by his own monster...

As for Herman--I also do not think that it was wisest choice to leave Leon on his own after all that happened.

Nah he's a pretty bad father if for nothing else than telling him to figure things out by himself never bothering to ensure he learned those lessons and then when it turns out he didn't telling him to figure things out himself again.

His son was at his lowest point and he abandoned him, he told him to move on and start over despite the fact he only taught him how to be one single thing in life which he now can't do. Rather than support him, he abandoned him, and Leon went off and attempted to kill himself.

If you leave your child when they needed your support the most and they attempt suicide then there's no other way to say it other than bad parenting. Regardless of how crazy that child may be you did nothing in attempt to prevent that.

Alphonse suffering is pretty much just beginning as the Op so blatantly implies. It's heavily implying he'll end up doing what Mendoza wanted to do all along, a Makai knight ruling humans which will obviously end badly.

No, Leon himself became person who know only one thing and Herman ALWAYS was telling him to wide his horizons and was worried about his mental state.

Plus, what Leon needs is LESSON not pat on shoulder and words: "You did nothing wrong". He needs realise how much he failed and mainly learn how to live not only for fight. Well, if Leon will learn such lesson, it will prove that Herman made right call.

^ agree to that. One can't just shove life lessons down another's throat. In the end, it'll be Leon who will forge his own destiny.

I agree. You can only give your children a framework for development. When they become teens, they have to apply it on their own, see the results and adjust their behavior accordingly. That is how teens become adults imo.

Alphonse is next in line for the throne, has been trained since a child to rule his country and has firsthand experience how power corrupts. I don't think he going to do anything bad.

I'm beginning to wonder if Ema was sent to assassinate Leon if he got out of control as she was looking for a particular monster and kept showing up wherever the group was.

Yes, this is the poster for the second cour. It's right there on the official website.

Leon has the trademark white coat now, but the Garo on the poster is still Alfonso (blue eyes plus shoulder pads).

The white coat donned by Kouga, Taiga and Raiga looks good on Leon.

No new episode today. Looks like a guest speaking event with recaps of the first cour so far.

Leon does look pretty cool with the coat.

So, is season 2 going to start straight away or is it going on break during the winter season?

The forearm sleeves on Leon's coat look just like Herman's.

I just realised, even if Leon wouldn't get Garo anymore, there is still one armor that he can inherite. I realy hope It's not death flag for him this time.

I finally had the chance to watch the latest episode. Who the heck does Alfonso think he is to chastise Leon in that way? He could have done it in a much better way. Yes, Leon did was wrong, but Alfonso is the last person who should act all high and mighty. Alfonso's dad, the king, was the one that pretty much gave the order to have Leon's mom executed. Alfonso was happily there to watch the execution of Leon's mom. He has no right to chastise Leon about that situation given how involved he was with it.

Alfonso will fall, and he will fall hard. I expect Leon to be the one that puts Alfonso in his grave after he falls to darkness.

Alfonso was happily watching. He was clearly scared to be even standing there. Go watch again and see if he was smiling whatsoever.

And why do people thing Alfonso will fall. Actually it's more like why are people acting like spoiled brats. Just because Alfonso did the right thing and chastised Leon, you people antagonizing against him. People just want to side with Leon that he spout hate comments just because they don't like what happened. This is like the Narusaku case in Naruto.

German, Leon's father, was determined to do the same as Alfonso would and even German couldn't and wouldn't have sided with Leon over this case because Leon killed people, not just one but many and the sole reason for that is because Leon couldn't control his emotions. Alfonso and German are the same, both of them just kept the mentality that a Makai Knight should possess. Protect humans. Alfonso did nothing wrong whatsoever, don't just go spouting hate comments about he will fall just because you hate the fact that he did what he did this episode.

And people keep on saying that Leon suffered because his mother was burned to death. But you guys seriously think that he's the only one that suffered. German had to watch his wife burn to death in his very eyes by the humans he should be protecting. Which do you think is more suffering, a baby that knows nothing at all or a guy that had to deal with his wife's death on the spot and rescue his son while being forced to leave even his wife's body behind as well. German's suffering is clearly many times worst than Leon's suffering.

Oh wait it's not finish German is a lousy father, he only toyed with women. But then again what about Leon. Did Leon ever truly tried to understand his father? Leon only sees the side of his father that is bad, did he try to see the side of his father who cherished Anna and chose to follow Anna's dreams. Lets not just stick to German only, has Leon ever tried to properly communicate with people unless if it's related to slaying horrors? No, Leon just kept the mentality of trying to distance himself from people.

No one said Leon is perfect, and people already have posted why Leon acts the way he does. You're comparing a mature adult in German versus an immature teenager who has no purpose in life besides the fact his mom was burned at the stake for people who hated her... the same people who he is supposed to protect.

And again, Leon was wrong, and he had to be stopped... Just not the way Alfonso did it. Alfonso was acting all high and mighty, couldn't stop the monster by himself, and wasn't even helping Leon. Again, Alfonso's dad was directly responsible for Leon's mom's burning alive. It's Alfonso's dad ordering the burning alive of Leon's mom, while Alfonso eats popcorn to enjoy the show, and then tells Leon, the son of burning mom, to man up and get over it. Alfonso would have been better served to respond in a way that was not so insensitive and full of himself.

Btw, Alfonso is the spoiled brat. Don't start flaming posters, B214.
