^ Do you keep a lock on Hulk Armstrong? I rarely keep my lock on him since his moves are just massive. I just keep moving.

And yes thanks to this farming exploit I got all the upgrades I needed.

I have the general gist of what to do and how his attacks work but he has some moves that seem impossible to parry/dodge (like that reverse elbow thing he does) which just sap health and to make matters worse I try to dodge all the debris attacks because I don't want to chance missing a cut and having to do it all again so I never get the health packs from them.

My experience playing "hack and slash" games is limited but I sailed through the likes of bayonetta and DMC4 on hard with little difficulty so I'm not exactly rubbish at MGR either but I'm not enjoying this at all.

I'll come back to it at a later point, but I'm taking a break for now.

I see... In the worst case scenario, you could restart the chapter to collect nanopaste... I was able to get by with 2 (using one in the process)

Thats an idea, I really liked the first sections of the fight so it mightn't be too bad to try that.

I'll leave it until tomorrow but much thanks for the help/tips regardless.

It's a learning curve whenever you need to use blade mode. L3 and R3 are your best friends, took me awhile to learn also the timing.

The nostalgic thing for me here is Raiden's cartwheel dodge and 3 punch double kick, reminds me of MGS2 Raiden, but in a good way.

After continuous listening, I'm surprised that the song I like the most is "I'm My Own Master Now". Now I'm literally turning this song on whenever I'm playing action game. I hate to repeat myself, but this game really has some kickass and memorial OSTs.

For the VR missions only missions 18 and 19 are the only difficult ones to complete on my end. For mission 7, I used Sundowners weapon and just charged attack with it.

But if you want a guid on just completing them and not getting the highest rank on them use this.

Seeing this player getting the highest on each VR mission rank kind of makes me want to go for it too.

The people who made it were happy with the result. I don't see what is there to apologise for; the game has issues, but not enough to break it. The fact that there is a talk of a sequel before the sales even began, means everyone involved was happy with the product.

Speaking of VR missions, there's going to be 30 new DLC missions available on PSN for free on March 12th. This will last until April 3rd, and after which they will be paid DLC. This will only be for the PS3 version though, so 360 users will miss out.

One of them involves Raiden fighting with only his fists. Who needs a sword? You're already born with the most badass killing tool.

Can't wait to try the new VR missions. I also heard that one mission is a 2D beat-em-up.

I would like to play this in a VR.

I'm not a big fan of VR missions (neither in this one nor the previous MGS) but I'm not saying no to free content.

If only the Sam and Wolf DLCs could be free as well.

Thanks for this. This works like a charm. Finally managed to get the Fox blade and holy crap is that sword ridiculously broken.

Brain dead. You don't even need the Fox Blade. Pole + Ripper Mode is enough. Though I don't know if the patch changed anything.

Just found this Gamasutra article about Raiden. It's pretty good and it even compares Metal Gear Solid 2 with Neon Geneis Evangelion.

Avoiding the Pokemon joke, Metal Gear Rising appears to be the closest thing to a MegaMan game Capcom couldn't make in the last years. The main character is a machine, he gets special weapons from the bosses, he is defeated in the first stage which forces him to become stronger and he has a robot dog. Raiden is MegaMan Zero.
