It's mean to be a contrast on Slaine and Asseylum fates, so far. They are the focus of the split screentime.

This is also a giant death flag on the princess. I'll be surprised if he makes it to the second half... I'll be honest. The Troyard plot is already kicking.

Problem now is she's the only one barring the emperor who can activate Aldnoah tech for both sides. Killing her off for real this time would take away whatever advantage the Terran side, as she's their only way to activate anything and everything related to Aldnoah.

It is getting difficult to like this show when only one of the main character is getting shitted on while the other one gets away with everything. It is difficult to like the writing and those who think Slaine never catching a break is good stuff for the anime.

Just when Crutheo was about to believe Slaine's story and everything turning out for the better Saazbaum does a sneak attack with his Kataphract, killing Crutheo before he'd even have a chance to use his mech.
Seriously, why are these space fortresses even exist if they can't even resist a single Kataphract's attack?
Anyways, Saazbaum took Slaine so he's now in for another bout of suffering.

Well that's what I get for kind of getting my hopes up for a good character episode. Should have really known better, but I didn't expect to miss the mark by that much. Good grief that might have been the worst episode to date that also accomplished the least over it's run time.

I don't see what just wailing on one main character for an entire show while nobody ever really shows any growth and the dynamic never seems to change accomplishes. This had to have been for the fujoshi or something, but what a waste of a good opportunity at this juncture for some further narrative expansion. Aside from Cruhteo seemingly being killed off and his character never really amounting to much as a result not much really to say about this one. 4 episodes left now and with 8 episodes in I can safely say I have pretty much a confirmed taste for what we're going to get for the rest of the shows run now.

I'm also pretty sure I've completely lost all faith in Slaine as the "interesting" character at this point. Before it became obvious his role is pretty much going to be exclusively what you see here for much of the cours run and possibly further I really had high hopes for a kind of plucky character that would form the heart of the story, but like...they aren't using him well at all nor anybody really. Like I feel like I kind of on some level get what they're going for with this show and with this episode with the whole juxtaposition but it's so on the nose about it as is often the case with Aldnoah and just so kind of mean-spirited about it in how it goes on for so long that the execution is just brutal and it comes off as mere torture porn.

Edit: @Dr Dahm: Aldnoah is a 2-cour Tv anime series, which means it's gonna be 24 episodes long.

Exactly. That's why she'll die. How is this show called? Aldnoah. Zero.

The battle against the orbital knights is mean to end in episode 12, iirc. At least as big plot focus, she'll no longer be necessary then.

Saazbaum went to rescue Slaine because Crutheo said he'll kill him, iirc. He didn't know Crutheo stopped and found out the truth, he's invested in keeping Slaine alive because of the Troyard plot.

The focus isn't on Inaho. It's focusing on Slaine and Asseylum fates at the present. Inaho is like Crutheo in the equation.

That Kataphrakt is no joke, seriously Inaho need get his hand on a Aldnoah powered Kataphrakt like ASAP. I don't care how smart Inaho is, he need something like a Valvrave to take that shit on. A salute to Cruhteo for at least trying to be a good Martian and another one for Saazbaum for being a smart Martian.

Inaho might have been the one having fun with the princess, but the whole time the princess was thinking about Slaine. All her dreams and everything she loves about Earth, is connected to Slaine in her mind. I really liked that scene.

I hated what they did with Calm (or what they didn't, actually). So much potential wasted.

I think that's pretty obvious from this point that she'll die. I can't foresee her survival after this episode...

The contrast, like I said, wasn't Inaho-Slaine, it was Asseylum-Slaine. Thinking about each others in a complete opposite situation. Asseylum is protected and with a friend, in the open, bright space. Slaine's trapped with someone who wants to kill him in a closeted dark space.

Unless this is heading toward Terran losing the war, I can't see Asseylum dying. I don't know how Inaho is gonna beat Saazbaum with that Terran's Kat of his.
