Huh... Frankly, I won't be able to stay true to your projection of Sae because initially there wasn't any wars after the White Knight Incident, public or covert. Thing is, I could make something that may go along the line but it may not have that much impact on you as the original does.

Well like I said. If you could keep true to her characterization as the innocent one that rose to the occasion in a none bad ass way... Then I'm glad that I asked you to take care of her.

@fireminer: take those years and compress all that misery into 1 year. Then add, for all intents and purposes, living death as just a piece of a machine without seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling nothing. Just aware that you are. Not even a sense of time. Not even a brain but only as a formless psyche. And you have no one to call to save you. You're just resigning yourself to that fate.

Sae Katami is the younger sister of Kiyoshi Katami, Tsurugi’ father, but not much was known about her and the only memory Kiyoshi has of her is that she was a skilled swordswoman that rivals his prowess.

Nevertheless, Sae has a gentle demeanour and is generally well-liked by her family members, including Kiyoshi who is two years her senior. She is an avid stargazer, often spending most of the nights laying in a field and looking at the stars.

At the age of 23, Sae would began working at JAXA where she’s eventually promoted to the title of Mission Co-Planner whereby she researches on possible destinations for future Shuttle programmes. Her niece, Tsurugi Katami, was born when she’s at the age of 28.

At the age of 35, a year after Infinite Stratos [White Knight] makes its debut, Sae would receive a top-secret order from JAXA’s board of directors, dubbed as the “Athena Programme”. At that point, she works in a secret location where she would meet Gerald Bastion, a liaison who turns out to be an employee of Arktavit Instus, one of the leading technological institutions in the United States.

Sae would then receive a package from Gerald who dubs it as a “key” that, in the right hands, would allow humanity to breach the barriers and explore the worlds beyond their own. It would then turn out that the “package” Sae received is in fact a genuine Infinite Stratos Core unit, classified as [Athena] and the Athena Programme actually involves the development of an Infinite Stratos unit that will be able to explore the worlds beyond while also negating any issues that has plagued the credibility of Space Shuttle programmes.

Over the course of four years along with a team consisting of JAXA personnel and former Arktavit Instus employees, Sae manages to develop the Infinite Stratos unit [Athena], named after the Core unit that’s promptly transplanted into it.

Celebrations, however, were cut short when the team caught wind of a strike group that has been tasked to “recover” the [Athena]. Upholding the responsibility of Head Project of the programme, Sae volunteers to pilot the [Athena] to fend off the strike group, instructing development team to seal the doors to the labs until she instructs otherwise.

With defensive equipment developed as a precautionary measure: A prototype long-sword and six wing-bits, Sae fends off the strike group which consists of a couple of naval stealth frigates, humanoid attack drones and two platoons of spec-ops soldiers.

Sae assumes combat with the strike group and despite her having zero knowledge of piloting an IS, she would manage to dispatch the drones with the sword, due to her skilled sword techniques, and somehow simultaneously utilizing four of the six wing-bits to defend herself.

Ultimately, Sae would manage to wipe out all attack drones as well as crippling the two frigates, forcing the soldiers to turn tail and retreat. However Sae herself was mortally wounded as she was fending off the attackers due to her limited piloting knowledge.

The incident remained under wraps to protect the secrecy of the Athena Programme and any knowledge of Sae’s selfless acts is strictly kept amongst the programme’s development team, including the liaison Gerald Bastion.

As Sae lay on the medical bed, she would make one final request to the development team before passing on: Transplanting her own consciousness into the [Athena] Core unit.

The only issue I have is how she became the consciousness of the IS. i don't know why she became that way or why shenchose that path in your route.

Originally it is made clear Sae did not want to become an equalizer. But she was beaten by the terrorist who was already in 2nd shift as she was. At that point she was already dying. In a last ditch effort she activated her IS and forced the equalizer protocols to breakdown her body into data and reconstruct herself in her prime form. Ofcourse this meant she would be listed as an equalizer rather than a pilot. However this retranscription of her database granted her 5 minutes of practical immortality. In those 5 minutes she was no longer contrained by the limits of human flesh in terms of mental processing, physical strength and reaction as well as regeneration more accurately described as repeated reconstruction. When the 5 minutes finished, Sae is completely registered as an equalizer and loses all rights as pilot. She is broken back down into data and sleeps in the IS core.

So maybe make the way she turned into the core a bit more poignant by giving a reason why it was necessary.

Second paragraph onwards would highlight the fact that her interests lie within the stars and all her life is just her doing what she loves: finding a(n easier) way to explore outer space.

But yeah, I should probably add that she wants to see for herself the worlds beyond, hence why she wants her consciousness transplanted into the Core itself.

Also, that way I figured she'd able to decide who she would want the Athena's pilot to be.

Hmm why not make a scientist do it of his own volition when Sae voiced her regrets of not seeing the future she ws entrusting to the new generation. Despite deciding to retire early anyway or something?
