Yeah, that sealed this as a "keeper" series for me - an actual "grown up" story.

Just read your blog post and omg... I can't believe how badly I misinterpreted the ending when I read it the first time. Now I feel like a total idiot.

Meh... I didn't catch it that way... I guess my thought was he got an earful after she smelled Eve's scent and knew what stunt she had just pulled, but whatever... I guess that leaves it open to reader interpretation a bit as far a this point of the story goes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I interpreted it that way as well. It doesn't really make sense to not want to remember spending a romantic evening with her.

If at any point it talks about first kisses etc then I will be proven wrong, which will mean that the book will get a 4/10. However as of at this point I think im right.

Yeah, I went back and reread it as well. Now I'm thinking no consummation happened at that point -- though obviously I took it that way at some point.

OTOH ... but gosh I don't want to spoil it for the non-JP readers. I'll just say it's one of the rare series I've been completely happy with the ending.

I assume you mean after book 17 right? Still not sure if 17 is the cannon ending or 16, I wasn't that happy about 16 but 17 did deliver.

Somehow I had the impression that it wasn't planned in the start but the fans weren't happy about book 16(rumors and such). Don't remember exactly that's why I'm asking, but I guess I just misunderstood.

Interesting, I'll have to browse the last two books again and see how they're written. I'm not saying it isn't possible, just that I don't remember details. It may have been a sort of "he's dead, omg!!! No! No, he's not!" like they pull at the end of Way Too Many Movies - but it's been ages since I read it and -foggy recollection-.

I didnt catch it that way either, i just guessed he got a huge ear full about flirting with eve, if they did have sex why would he want to forget it

Nothing complicated about it. The happy end in 17 is canon.

The LN series ended in 2011 (July), with its 17th book, yes.
