Hi I am trying to find some anime with a music band kind of theme like Beck or Kaikan Phrase. Thanks

well there is Nana, currently airing and will be 50 episodes
Kin'iro no Chorda Primo Passo is not really a music band, but there are solos and duets
If you want a classical orchestra, I'd suggest waiting for the upcoming Nodame Cantabile

Full Moon wo Sagashite
One of my fav anime. Ech, but now I notice you say "band", umm... well there's a bunch of band themed manga I've read... can't think of any other anime.

The first thing that comes to my mind when speaking about music-themed anime is Beck.
But as you already mentioned this one, I can also second Full Moon wo Sagashite.

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but...

Music-themed anime in general would make me think of any of the Macross series. Macross 7 revolves around a band, but the show isn't about the band's growth and development like Beck is. Actually, Macross 7 was pretty bad, anyways. I couldn't finish it.

Aquarian Age might do you. It's got music and band stuff, but also various other stuff going on as well. And incidentally, the soundtrack is by Kajiura Yuki and is great.

I will also second Full Moon, it's a great series

For sure, whenever you think of a music based anime, you think of Beck. Beck was just an outstanding anime and I personally think is the best music based one out there. Besides Beck I gotta second Kin'iro no Chorda Primo Passo and Nana, these 2 are pretty good as well.

FLCL, there is no band in it but they play a bunch of songs by The Pillows. Also Violinist of Hamelin which you can get here. His music are like spells, some pretty good classical music

. The animation in it makes Berserk look like Akira though. In other words...sux.

For a more recent offering, you might try Lovedol ~ Lovely Idol.

If the sight of 12-year-olds singing and jumping around is amusing to you, it should be right up your alley.

Black Heaven or known as Kachou Ouji -- also music theme anime but its a little old and licensed

Might be sacrilegious to mention this in an anime forum... but if you're willing to watch an American show, the 80's cartoon JEM! was terrific - filled with messages, well-developed characters, and music videos.

First two seasons are out on DVD.

Yep, I can just recommend Fullmoon wo Sagashite as well, it's really good. Hm, I dunno if you're into Shonen-ai, if yes you could go for Gravitation.
