The lyrics had a real emotional punch for me too, considering its relevance to the story.

Yeah, I also liked it. It fits more with the actual feeling of the latter answer arcs.

That's how I felt too. The most important thing this season had to do was to show that Higurashi was never really a suspense/horror/mystery to begin with, but an emotional epic story of a little girl and her friends trying to fight against fate itself.

Some might just call it drama technique, but when you get attached to these characters (such as the game vets did over the 4+ years the game took to complete), every new development was a breathtaker. These final chapters literally made me forgot I was playing a game. Hopefully, this series will have similar effects for the first-season viewers.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Considering the fact that the 2nd season's OP plays the phrase the "correct" way (it says "nigerarenai" (you can't get away) at the end), whereas the phrase was played "backwards" at the beginning of the first season's OP, maybe they had all this planned from the start?

i cant bear to watch the 2nd season im afraid it will crash and burn like the first one :/. i mean compared to the novel the anime is pretty bad ...

I always thought it was good. I loved it and it had me guessing throughout.

But this is coming from someone who has only watched the anime. So I don't know about any of the arcs you all are talking about. I just hope this season fully explains. At the end of one I was still saying what the hell. Several things still bugged me.

My number one question was if the different arcs were connected and something was resetting them when they died or if it is a bunch of what if stories. I still am confused about this.

when Keiichi gets shot will have me in tears. I mean if they pull it off well enough. Like with "Ugh...go on without me." And then the reactions form the others. I haven't actually played that arc in so long I forget how it all plays out but I'm sure the anime version will be totally sad.

^ there is no way they would skip this scene, otherwise, it wouldn't be minagoroshi at all (well to me anyway).
This is pretty much the climax, and particularly the part where you want to demolish the culprit/cause the most. (perfect scenario huh? quite not T-T)

more like the game, slowling the scenes, giving freezing shots of everyone, seeing the bullet, but unable to stop it. Keiichi, sacrificing himself, yelling to everyone to go ahead without him. (well, things like that)
there are many ways to make this scene deliver perfectly, that will depend how they build the tension in the chase though

as sushi-y suggested, we should be cautious in our expectations and just enjoy the ride, when it will be aired.
