Hopefully it won’t get delayed again. But the VAs for Nia and Mukuro have been set and they get lines in the new PV, so production should be well on its way if not nearly done this time. And the OP theme has been chosen. A little disappointed that it’s not sweetARMS, but it still sounds great and they’re doing the ED.

He doesn’t. His primary work is King’s Propose now, which he is enjoying writing and has nothing to do with DAL.

Well, they did do a short crossover story between DAL and KxP recently, but I doubt it was to kick off anything significant, at least not yet.

It was explicitly a cute little ‘what if’ wherein Shido needs to date Saika as if she was a Spirit. Tachibana was very clear in V22’s afterword that DAL, as a story, is over, and that the last couple of Encores are just to wrap things over.
Man straight-up said goodbye and thank you to each character.

Each to their own I guess. I was kinda indifferent when they were first revealed(they were not bad, just alright) , but after I looking at the character profiles, I find most of them pretty good.

DAB is confirmed non-canon by its ending, as it contradicts the main story. I’m not that satisfied with it to be honest, as it feels a lot of the foreshadowing with regards to DAB Kurumi’s character went nowhere. Nevertheless, I’m not too upset with the ending either. Mixed feelings.

In any case, highlights include:

- Hibiki is revealed to be an amalgamation of the last regrets of 100 Empties, like Dead Face HAKUNO in Fate/Extra Last Encore.
- The Neighbouring World doesn’t collapse after all.
- The Quasi-Spirits are able to return to earth, and roughly 70% of them do. Cistus, Yui, and Haraka stay behind. Cistus becomes Dominion of Malkuth, Yui becomes Dominion of Netzach, and Haraka remains Dominion of Geburah.
- Carte returns to Earth and becomes a travelling stage magician along with the Ace of Spades.
- Rinemu and Mizuha return to Earth, get a Family Register together (effectively marrying) and debut as idols together.
- Retsumi returns to Earth and works with Ratatoskr to help rehabilitate the Quasi-Spirits.
- Tsuan returns to Earth and gets addicted to the gym.
- I’m not yet sure if Maya and Ariadne return to Earth, but they do survive.
- DAB Kurumi, who is still the Kurumi Clone from Star Festival, returns to Earth and remains separate from the real Kurumi.
- Hibiki gets to go to Earth too, by taking over the part of Queen that was an Inverse Clone of Kurumi, thus gaining a physical body of her own.
- It seems that Sawa survives and returns to Earth also.
- Hibiki and Kurumi live together on Earth, and after a month of Kurumi not having had the courage to go meet Shido, Hibiki buys her a wedding dress, rents a church, and goes to Shido, telling him about the story of DAB. Shido then heads to the church where he and DAB Kurumi kiss and comment on the wish coming true, before they head out on a date with Hibiki tagging along to wingman.

Are these illustrations from DAL Another like the heading says? I thought the stories were written by other authors, or is it just the story and the illustrations are still done by Tsunako? (which makes sense since they didn’t say they were bringing in other illustrators)

…….and apparently DAL Boys Side is a thing.

It doesn’t fit because the Tanabata Wish’s pay-off is completely different in the main story.
There is also the fact that in Kurumi Friend, the Sawa recreation we see is 100% accurate to the real one, and states that she could never resent or hate Kurumi for what happened. And yet she does in DAB.
Kotori also appears and is referred to as a middle-schooler…even though, by the time of the current encores, she’s a high-schooler, and yet, that clone hasn’t made an appearance at all. If DAB were canon, there’s no way Shido wouldn’t consider her one of his friends just as much as he does Kurumi, so she wouldn’t be excluded from things like Kannazuki’s wedding.
So they’re a more than a bit incompatible unfortunately.

Yes those are the illustrations, Tsunako handled the illustrations.
DAL Girls’ Side has been a thing since April Fools’ Day last year, complete with a short story about the concept in Dragon Magazine (you did actually comment at the time). This is just an expanded version of that short story, included as part of the anthology.

The animation quality seems much, much better - and that’s something I’m THRILLED about - but I’m just not a fan of the art style at all. I hated it in DAB, and I hate it here. There’s certainly nothing objectively wrong with them…I just don’t like them from a personal aesthetic standpoint. I know a lot of people are in love with the new art style though, and so I’m really happy for them!
