They only so far have released up to volume 16, but 17 should be in stores some time early this month if not already (a few book stores that have released it a little early from what I heard).

WOAH! 16? 17?

GTO is the fastest released manga ive ever seen. ever.

I was thinking about buying books ~24 raw... but it wasnt worth it.

I dont think most people know this, but there is a serie based on Onizuka and his friend's highschool life. It's a long manga series, and it really concentrate on gang fights, but with tons of humor in it as well. I dont know the english name or the jap name for it since i read it in chinese edition.
If u loved gto, u gotta read the prelude serie~

The two preludes are Bad Company and Shounan Jun'ai Gumi. I don't think either one is licensed. Bad Company has been completely scanslated by Paizuriteam and Mangaproject is working on SJG. Neither of them is anywhere near GTO's level *cough*which isn't saying much *cough* but if you're an Onizuka fanatic they might be worth your time.

Actually, considering GTO was released about the same time as love hina by tokyopop, the release rate is fairly standard (one volume every 2 months
