Not liking the new one either =/

Thing is the color scheme and texture seems so different in comparison to the last. I'm no pro at image editing but it sorta looks wrong and doesn't seems to flow.

This is all opinion so don't hammer on me

Sure, go create an image of Kairin that appeals to your standards and we may use it if we feel like it.

People put in their own time to create images of Kairin and while criticism is expected being insulted is uncalled for. If people can't offer something positive to contribute and only feel the need to belittle others time and efforts then simply ignore the image and find something better to do with your time.

It's nice Kiva. You're not going for that detailed and realistic look. Probably just me being biased, but I'd love it a lot more if you could make a minor edit and give Kairin a gentle (and subtle) smile.

I was debating on giving her a smile when I was drawing but I chose not to for two reasons. The first was that I wanted the scene to capture Kairin in a state of disbelief after the bird lands on her hand. She's so taken aback by such a beautiful bird on her hand that she doesn't know how to react so she stares in wonder. Secondly, in almost all of the pictures I've drawn of Kairin, she's smiling and there's nothing wrong with that but this time I felt like switching it up a bit.

The new front page illustration isn't bad. I think the coloring is its strong point. The shading and highlights provide for a dramatic effect.

Kiva's drawing is really pretty too. She really does look captivated by the little bird. The scenery is well rendered too.

Kairin as a school girl! The uniform was made up, but probably based on the countless different ones I've seen throughout anime and manga.

And if you prefer not to be distracted by my abuse of pen textures and leaf shadows, here's the same one with a blank background:

It's ok, I get the same feeling. I'm still working on drawing people in a setting rather then just have something behind them. I still have a long way to go...
