Majin Bone

Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...jin-bone-anime

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the Majin Bone anime as it airs in Japan. Episode one will air at 5:00 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, and later episodes will air every Tuesday at 4:00 a.m. PDT. The series will be available for members in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Central and South America including Mexico.

"This story began before Earth was born. Majin, the creator of the Universe, has been resurrected in the present day." Kenn will star as Shōgo Ryūjin, an ordinary high school student who transforms into the Bone Fighter Dragonbone with the Bone Card in order to save Earth. The cast also includes Hiroki Yasumoto as Rhinobone/Tyrone, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Jaguarbone/Antonio, and Shinnosuke Tachibana as Sharkbone/Luke. Together, these White Bone warriors stand up to Dark Bone, a foe that appeared from darkness to devastate Earth. However, "could the true enemy be ourselves?"

The January 2014 issue of Shueisha's Saikyo Jump magazine announced the digital card game project in December. Shueisha is launching a manga version by Naoya Sugita (Zan, SWOT) in the magazine. Bandai is credited with the original plan, and Izumi Todo, the collective pseudonym for Toei Animation's staff, is credited with the original story.

Yuusuke Murata (Eyeshield 21, One-Punch Man) is in charge of the original character designs for the new anime, and Hideki Ishikawa did the original CG character designs.

Ryuujin Shougo is your average high school student, spending his days in peace and quiet. But that peace and quiet is about to come to an end. “Dark Bone” appears before him.

Dark Bone is merciless in his attempts to kill Shougo.

It takes all of Shougo's skill just to avoid his strikes, but the monster catches up to him.

The end seems near, when suddenly...

A card that appears from deep in the ground. Shougo touches it, and an incredible event occurs!

The card shines, and Shougo is wreathed in its light...

“He's a match!” cry the three youths pursuing Shougo. From that light steps “Dragon Bone” – Shougo's transformed form.

Why did Shougo transform? What is this “Card”? Who are the three men? Can Shougo beat “Dark Bone”? And what is the creator of the universe, Majin? A new legend is now beginning!"

Just saw the first episode. Liking it so far.

I already am loving the dynamic between Shou and Saho. I get the feeling I'm gonna love her.

The animation and art style will take a little getting used to, but it's okay.

Hopefully episode 2 has some more world-building and explanations.

I didn't plan to watch it since I'm not into mecha stuff specially when it's CG but screenshots caught my attention.
The plot and introduction are rather classic but the first episode did its job. It was surprisingly nice. Sat and Shougo make a pleasant duo.
The most stunning thing is animation. Excepted the awful CG mecha, it has great character animation. The design is pretty sweet with expressive faces and loose silhouettes. The part they walk to school is neat specially when Shougo falls : look how the bag & Sat's ponytail are thoroughly animated. The part when they leave the school is pretty similar (that skirt animation). Also great layouts.
The director Konosuke Uda brought his Niji-Iro Hotaru team : Takaaki Yamashita sure influenced this episode. Ryo Onishi is also well-known and he's the designer and animation director. There're some others who worked as inbetweeners or key animators for Niji-Iro Hotaru.
though I don't know if Toei will manage to keep this level of quality.

I almost forgot : hot mom.

Huh... I expected this to be absolute garbage.
It's actually... kind of nice. I didn't expect there to be real world consequences to the game mechanic, and that's always nice.

The beginning was pretty slow.
Characters were also rather simple looking.
It wasn't that bad actually.
Still, I'm not really into this kind of anime.
Better leave it to the kids..

1st episode better than I expected for an anime just to sell the toys. The next door neighbor girl or whatever is spunky.

The Metal Hero aspect is something that isn't seen often anymore.

But doubt I continue, I just don't care that much about it.

I wonder what are the chances she's going to get an armor as well.

I really like the animation it's kinda neat, like in an old school kinda way. Might be a nice turn the mind off and enjoy type of show since it's target demographic probably isn't my age..lmao

Yeah, I think I might enjoy this show if I was 10 years younger. I will check another episode or two before making judgement.

Is it my imagination or do the character designs feel really retro?

About the designs, the MC feels modern enough in design (typical toys-line type MC design), whereas the girls seem to have a hint of sailormoon-esque look to them.

Character animation caught my interest too and the slice of life moments were rather nice.

The the expressiveness of the animation style really reminds me of digmon movie/summer wars/wolf children, and you get the point!

A promising first episode. Good looking, fun. Nothing much to say yet, really.

I love these kiddie shows.

Definitely retro look to the art and animation. Also, the MC lives at Hikawa Jinja, which is also where Sailor Mars lived and a frequent setting in Sailor Moon.

Well, I actually like the 90's look, and I kinda like the fact that the ED was silly like it was.

To be honest it reminded me of the old 70's Saturday morning hero shows like Ultraman or The Space Giants - sorta dumb fun of the sort I kinda have to be in the right mood for. Been a while, though.

Well, I guess I will try another ep and see what happens.
