I read newer volumes of manga (6-6.5-7) and I must say, what Shaft did with second season was murderous to the series. Warm ongoing storyline in the manga is just so much more awesome than RANDUM Shaft-type comedy. And while everything else from Shaft lately recieved Bluray release (even Arakawa! Made by the same companies!) Arashi is missing out. As an honest customer, I am greatly suddened by how it all turned out. Oh well, at least there is still manga. Which is good. Really good. |

And Vol 6 was out by then as well, although it doesn't have something of a conclusion like 3 and 5 have. |

Turns out that there was a special ending video made for DVD version of Episode 11 (S2), which, curiously, parodies Shiraishi Ryoko's music clip on S1 ending (Kirari Futari).
rem In other news, seventh volume of the manga is such an epic dissonance with the back half of the show... Last edited by Daniel Lind; 2010-10-19 at 12:23. |

Finally caught up.
This makes me feel horrible, especially since the best episodes of S2 (the non-filler) were better than the excellent but consistent episodes of the first season. I'm crestfallen there won't be more, yet I can't help but speculate that even if there was, it would have more in common with S2 than S3. The first season was really like a bolt of lightning, maybe Bakemonogatari's success helped it come out intact? SHAFT is kind of a mixed back right now, they can make God Tier and High Tier shows like NnA and Bake, respectively, but are just as likely to nuke said titles in a rushed sequel.
