Random Semi-Complaint / FML Statement: So, the day before I leave on vacation (today) to see my family and report on my engagement and otherwise also take a break from work .. I get informed it may be delayed or cancelled due to a new project. Beloved is not pleased.

Don't you have another colleague who can take over it? The last time this happened to me I simply just went off and didn't even cared.

You are not the only professional I have seen "whining" like this because of a project - there are engineers, security heads and even soldiers who grumble about getting "detained for work reasons". There is one special rescue operator who wanted to take a trip to Japan and ended up in New Zealand during the Christchurch Quake; he had it worse because he could have been taking his holiday AND rescuing people 2 months down the road.

Just assume you can go. Pack first.
