What a strange discussion. Since when is the appearance and/or behavior of an anime character in any way related to his or her officially given age? Must be a brand new rule .... Manabi Straight, Honey and Clover, ... how many examples do you need?

I normally consider these official number to be irrelevant. The studio can claim whatever it wants, but when it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck then it's not an eagle. But since I can't see Karin being depicted in any kind of sexualized way (as of now) this is a moot discussion anyway.

Ah, but it's always good to nip these things in the bud now or pay for it with repeated defenses in the thread later if a certain scene makes it into the anime imo.

This is shoujo after all and Karin is at that age imo and the anime is inching us towards it. As of ep. 13 , she is fighting off 2 guys (Kirio and Michiru), dreaming of marrying Kirika, danced with Kirika and had a date with Kazune. She has had more interaction with guys at this point than Usagi has had in most of the series. Usagi didn't start having other guy interactions until Sailor Stars.

For now i will not watch it and keep dl'ing until it's finished. But man i can't wait.
I peeked @ the OP and the first two seconds reminded me of pita ten and then i got some freaky yet wonderfull strange stuff. Though i thought i saw ayanakoyi

I don't know the manga so I don't know what will happen later on, but as for the things you mentioned in your spoiler

Dancing, "dating", I mean, come on. Many girls dream of marrying their kindergarten "boyfriend" at age 5. When I said Karin is not depicted as sexualized I meant I fail to see anything about Karin that aims at adult males who swing in an unhealthy way. As you said by yourself, this is shoujo, not Kyo Go No Ni.

Besides, shoujo is pretty mature nowadays. The days of Sailor Moon are a faded memory now.

A variant of the scene from Today in Class 5-2 (the gym storage room) did show up in Kamichama Karin.

Can't wait for ep. 14.

You're not serious. Or maybe you are, I'm off the loop when it comes to American cinema. Maybe even the most basic understanding about the difference between normal behavior of a child and definitely not normal behavior has been lost altogether. That at least makes me understand a bit better why you are drawing parallels between KCK and Kyo Go No Ni.

When their rings were stuck together you mean? I don't know which scene from Kyo Go No Ni you mean but if it is in any way representative for what I saw from this anime *shudder* then I can't believe that there are any similarities.

When KCK gives you the same vibes as Kyo Go No Ni then I think we can only agree to disagree. Oh well, maybe Karin is "borderline child smut" (Doremi about Kyo Go No Ni) and I'm just to naive to decode the hidden subtext.

Karin is a teen. She's 13 yo. Today in Class 5-2 students were 10 yo. So people are going to think different things if a boy and a girl age 13 yo are seen entering the boy's restroom or if a scene similar to Today in Class 5-2 ep. 1 is shown in ep. 11, hence the confusion on Kirio's part and the source of comedy.

This isn't "child smut" by any stretch of the imagination.

But being shoujo, it's inevitable that Karin gets a boyfriend. And she does dress up pretty well (normal age appropriate stuff and not Sweet Lolita type clothes) for her date in ep. 13.

While this is pretty tame by comparison, it's best to remember that Karin is 13 yo imo.

Kyaaa~n the anime has gotten a lot better from the god-awful episode 4.x_x I am extremely pleased with it...there has not been ONE filler episode that was not taken from the manga and that's a beautiful thing.
Filler episodes taken from filler chapters of the manga ARE a little misplaced, but that's okay because it doesn't hurt the plot at all.:P

I don't know about you guys but I haven't seen that many deformations (is that a word) since 5.

On another note, Kazune's effing hot as any shouta boy could be. Karin's a cutie pie. Himeka is...meh I don't really like types like her...she's a ditz. The other Himeka however is very cute and so is Kazusa (the blond one) and so is Suzune!

And holy crap but Kirio's FUNNY! He kills me....he really does.

The new ending is HILARIOUS...it oozes Koge-Donbo's goofy sense of humor and most of the drawings are straight out of the manga. XD

KarinxKazune is my second favorite couple in all of anime and manga, right after MitsukixTakuto
