Wasn't Chiaki's sister the engineer rather than the participant? The one that Azusa mentioned as having a pretty terrible expression when they understood Tatsuya's rampage vs the one inspecting cads in the previous volume and the one that has been missing school during the current volume (thinking back about it, she might be the girl that Mayumi said "deep down she is nice" back then when Tatsuya was being confronted by a female engineer when he was being Mayumi's CAD assistant).

To be honest, from her perspective is pretty understandable to think something is fishy (well, is still a stupid idea). Basically, from her point Tatsuya let one accident to happen without caring and only stepped forth later to look better. Also, the position that Tatsuya is taking in the Thesis thing was originally her sister's, at the end of the day they are just stupid reasons, but that doesn't mean that she isn't going to rage about it.

I believe her sister was Kobayakawa, the one whose CAD was sabotaged during the first round for Mirage Bat and subsequently fell from the sky. The girl's motive for vengeance comes from her belief that Tatsuya allowed her sister to fail because the only he cares about is Miyuki. While the second half of that statement is true, the first portion is not. The simple matter is that Tatsuya is not omniscient nor omnipotent. Things will happen that are out of his control and events will occur that he will not foresee. I agree that while her motivations make sense, seeing as grief works differently on different individuals, I do concur that objectively speaking, her motivations are fairly flimsy at best. She's merely lashing out at the first available target to avoid succumbing to grief.

I do believe that her collaborators are fanning the flames of her hate to serve their interests, but since she's only a pawn in their plans, it's not like they invested a whole lot into her anyways.

i personally don't believe it to be plausible, if you want revenge, then you need to do it yourself, not reliant on others (let alone assistance from shady men)

besides, revenge is something you do because you hold a grudge or something rather against the person correct? what satisfaction can come from getting it with the assistance of others?

then again here's some food for thought , the whole idea of revenge is just a persons own ego consuming them, to live we consume, for our own happiness we take it away from others. the process merely builds >>

hmm.. well in real life, more than likely revenge is driven by ones own desire and it will be quite hard to find those that have similar motives to you. But in the mahoukaverse, there is the inclusion of magic. If we were to compare, knowing tats, it'd be like trying to get revenge of the president for some reason. He'd be untouchable and the person taking the revenge most likely cannot do it by him or herself. :3

The girl is Hirakawa Chiaki. I wasn't sure myself and thought you might be right, so I went to the raws. I don't think they make many references to their relationship, though. I can only recall one or two times from the web novel :/

there are plenty of other methods for getting revenge, instead of just focusing on the target (which in this case, would more or less get you killed)

besides, the higher the hurdle, the better the satisfaction

haha true enough.

Though only problem is she is an amateur high school girl who doesn't know any better. Shes not from the 10 families and she doesn't have the resources.

Plus, its true that the higher the hurdle, the better the satisfaction, but I think the hurdle.... may be a bit out of reach :P

Psh, Suzune had ulterior motives for doing so in the first place. She practically said flat out that she did it for the school rather the student herself. Offering false hope that some poor deluded young thing can surpass Tatsuya? TATSUYA.

I think from I heard (read summaries should be the correct to say) its like when Mayumi talked with Azusa outside main building during 9 schools competitions or Shizuku and Honoka talk about how helpless they feel try to compete against Tats and Miyuki, on Vamps arc:

its said Miyuki ready defeat all Council and Public Morals Committee, including Mayumi and Mari, I don't remember accurately if includes Clubs management, when she compete against Lina on simple test.

So put simple its like: don't worry you have strong points on the area they're weak, something consolation to avoid the overwhelming feeling of being in front of people which power its so high you will consider HAX (some of this was pointed by Yamanaka).

So I read the first part of Vol 5, "Elections" chapter again and man, does it still seem out of place. Considering how easily any of the girls blush and the only occupants of the student council room are Tatsuya, Suzune, Mari, Miyuki, Mayumi and Azusa.. I can't understand how that conversation is even possible. Even if we assume both Suzune and Mari are having premarital sex.. Who's saying "I wanted to wear white.." "He pushed me forcefully into bed.." etc.

Before anyone comments, this is not a "My waifus!!" outburst, but more concern about the discontinuity - especially when in Vol 2, Tatsuya thought simply speaking about "hustling" a girl was an inappropriate topic to discuss in front of Miyuki. It seems like the author went temporarily insane and added that .. And then took the characters back completely the other way (with Mayumi's severe blushing in Vol 6)

Anyways, it is so out of character it is jarring, I mean I can imagine general classmates and teenage girls talking about those topics, just not those Student Council members. Is it just me?
