In the novel, there's already mutual feelings between Horo and Lawrance by the end of Vol.1.

Horo has already been teasing Lawrance all the time since the end of Vol.1 and waiting for him to take the bait. But the Lawrance's nature is telling him otherwise since the start of Vol.2.

Throughout Vol.2, he reminds quite indecisive. And in Vol.3, he's quite cautious and thinking too much into his relationship with Horo. I'm currently into Vol.4 and there's this part where Horo asking him straight in his face why he isn't taking the bait all these while, Lawrance reply was akin to taking a bite into a unknown fruit. The fruit might look tasty but it might taste very sour. Horo was like, "So you think I'm that kinda stuff now, ya ?"

Something that just occurred to me, no matter the expression on her face, cheeky smile or otherwise, he eyes stay the same. When looking at the my sig, the motivational, and a couple other shots there looks like there is a sad/sorrowful cast to them most the time, maybe I'm just seeing things.

We will see how long lawrence can surpress his feelings soon enough, but based on that it shows him just how much of a gentleman he is. It's pretty rare these days to fine a male lead who is as mature as he is and also pretty honorable. Dam well I know that I can't act the same if I was put into his shoes

Lawrence may be lonely, but he's not some horny teenager given his age. It's stated in Chapter 1 of the novel that if there's always brothel for him in the next town/city if he ever needs to release his urge.

I see that too and I'm amazed, how constantly this cast is expressed in different moods and situations.

Yup, most male anime characters are between the age of 14 and 18, so it really is noticeable if "he" is 25 and behaves more mature according to his age.

Well thanks for the information, normally I wouldn't read this but who knows if the rest of Spice and Wolf will get animated or if the light novels will get licensed of even translated online.
