Why no snu in this series though... Underdog tales are fine and all, but ain't underdog tales where the dog snu all the hot babes in some freak-bestiality party much more popular?

Also, Note/Nort has been a supporter for half a yr from party to party, so isn't it strange that they only noticed the value of his skill now? I would assume that at most after the 3rd party he would be able to sell himself better.

No snusnu because tsundere was super against the whole in-party awkward romance vibes between members.
When the slutadin Rosalia decided to go after him, tsundere put in extra effort trying to make in-party romance against the rules.
Putting the tsundere in a tough position when she actually fell for him (even if she was the only one who ever agreed to the rule in any way).
So the protag isn't even dating anyone at the moment despite having two girls interested in him, with him even being interested in one of the two.

It's not like there can't be snusnu in the future.
The series doesn't actually have all that much content due to the author going on hiatus for like half a year, and before that he was updating like once or twice a month for a little while.

The Arrivers are the first party he's been to the dungeon with. Before that, he was a luggage carrier at best.
No one, including Mia, ever bothered trying to get him learn how to fight since skills are generally regarded as the most important part in real fights.
His map has good synergy with scouting Arts but by default all it is nearby geography—nothing notable. He had no merits as an adventurer, especially with him being nearby just being depressing since he was a sad mope for a while.
Note was basically waiting for a solution to fall into his lap which didn't happen in Jin came along.

While it's also theoretically possible for people to train hard enough to surpass skill holders, it's widely regarded as infeasible.
The only people to have notable fighting ability unrelated to skills is Jin, with the recent Head-chopper assassin noted to have above average sword ability without having a skill directly related to it.

^^ Nothing of that was in a dungeon and his skill mostly shines now because of the detection art, which seems pretty hard to learn and he had neither a mentor to teach him that nor the will to do so. Lastly, most people want to learn attack arts, not support ones.
As for snusnu, I have no idea, considering at one point it went almost there, just got fuzzled later. But in current chapters Note is no longer an underdog, weak yes, but not miserable.

Also, the head cutter is described as weak in a real fight. He can do only one move that is worth mentioning (chop off the head) with the sword and even that is just on a level Note can evade even if done in a counter. His main forte is the hiding, but he has a skill support for that.
And Jin's fighting style is mostly reliant on the fast movement skill and changing the form of metals for tricky moves. So even he is largely dependent on his skills (even though those skills might not be directly attack focused).

21th floor Boss was just too strong for them, so they decided to run away. Jin stopped the boss (or at least he thought he did) and as he turned to flee too he got stabbed, and died.

For Erin, she decided to go back to her hometown to learn Magic again from zero and become stronger. She doesn't want Note to come with her because she doesn't want to become dependant on him. She wants to be strong enough to not lose anything again. Even if they never go in the dungeon again, she wants to be sure she's strong enough to not regret her powerlessness again.

Going by his update posts, he plans on finishing volumes before posting them. In this case it seems he also means finishing published volumes.

Regardless he said he plans on upping the fourth volume soon, but the fifth will probably be a long ways off.

Jin's death wasn't too unbelievable. They underestimated the 21st floor a great deal and paid for it.
Oh, the boss room is right after the first encounter of trash mobs? No miniboss? Let's just walk right in!
It's orthodox to explore the entire dungeon floor, or at least most of it in RPGs!

The theme for the 21st floor is demons, and the two holy-related people in the party immediately felt the place be off.
The trash mobs there have auras that weaken holy spells and their active effects, and the boss just outright negates anything holy near him. On top of having two cursed swords that prevent the wound from being healed, at least by holy magic (the only thing they tried). On top of that, the boss can leave his room and wander the floor if he damn pleases.
Jin had actually previously been wounded when he was buying time for the party to leave, with Erin casting a immobilizing spell on it but leaving its right hand free to throw its sword at Jin, killing him. Jin's death itself was instant and he didn't have any parting remarks or anything.

Force and Erin decide to return home to train because they both blame themselves, with no real promise of coming back.
Erin specifically apparently never put any effort into learning spells to begin with, so she blames the boss being able to throw to begin as her own incompetence, as well as mentions the possibility that she could have learned healing sorceries (not holy, but magic) in order to heal Jin's wounds that likely aided in his death.
Note actually regresses back to his Mia-breakup time and just tries to avoid anyone and everything (doesn't resort to alcohol again, however), but when he tries to get back into training his mentor thief girl (had a crush on Jin) she tells him she's going to quit being an adventurer, encouraging him to also quit and head to the capital with Roselia following him.
Neme actually acts the most mature about everything, and as far as we know, she stays in the Arriver's party house. Could have left it afterwards, of course.

I don't get how Force plans to train, though.
He originally left home because no one was even close to being his match if I recall and he was disappointed with it all.
The hell's he even gonna do?

So Note becomes really pathetic in speech and action again and spends half-a-year doing nothing but odd jobs until he finally gets out of his strut and starts training again. Apparently he didn't even practice his map-search skill/art combo that he pretty much had on 24/7 back in the dungeon town.
Except he doesn't seem to learn anything new from the training it seems. His main weakness, attacking, doesn't seem to improve AT ALL. He mentions there's quite a few thief attack arts but never tries to learn the damn things.

The Mia reunion had a lot of expectations and even a few surprises.
Like for once, we actually get to see Mia as a character and it's a bit different than expected.

She ends up declining Note's invitation to join the dungeon with them because she'd rather be his rival in conquering it due to events in the volume, but at the end she runs off of in embarrassment after Roselia teases her a bit, saying she doesn't care about the dungeon anymore or whatever.
Pretty sure she'll probably still end up going, probably even joining that all-woman party his former thief mentor left.

Mia herself is a complete cheat character, an all-rounder too.
In this novel she shows she can: use the bow masterfully, can literally kill monsters with a single punch due to her increased strength, can mow-down hundreds of meters of trees with magic, can also heal with magic, and has learned tracking arts like Note as a hunter class.
She can actually cover basically any role, and all to a high degree.

Aside from reconciling? with Mia there isn't any progress in this novel.
At best Note re-resolves himself to maybe even take Jin's place to which before he wouldn't even try to be Jin's substitute, but who can say for sure. It does look like he's going to go gather up the Arriver's members since he got information on them from his training buddy while he was there.
He learned no new arts or notably improved in any of his current ones, including STILL having no way to actually harm monsters due to still only knowing one thief attack art, and at a low success rate at that.
No real romantic progress with Roselia despite being together for half-a-year.
And unless Mia actually does end up joining their party somehow, he didn't find a replacement to fill Jin's spot either.

It was really just a volume about Note finally overcoming his past and Jin's death.

Now to wait half-a-year or more for the next one, I guess.

Spoiler for Mia's role and thoughts on it:

Mia's reaction to their sort of break-up was the same as Note's, in that she just tried to pretend it never happened and even tried to avoid the topic when Note tried to bring it up.
To Note, Mia is the kindest person he knows and somewhat of an airhead.

However, that's a bit wrong. We actually get to see Mia's POV and she actually considers herself somewhat of a calculative person. For example, she knows she's objectively cute but brazenly pretends she has no clue how other people view her appearance, which Roselia brazenly calls her out on (Note finds her being so oblivious about her appearance hard but believes her anyway, the dense idiot). In my opinion this actually her fishing for a compliment, and she's actually shocked when he does call her cute since he's never done that before and she was sure he'd be too embarrassed to say that to the girl he likes.
She states several times that she she's aware Note has a crush on her but Note himself isn't her type, as she prefers the reliable and confident type which is the exact opposite of Note.
She thought Note would actually come crawling back to her after their initial fight as she was aware he was very dependent on her, and felt betrayed when he just went around with other parties, also shredding the confidence she had in herself.

So she tries to sort of plot 'revenge' so to speak. She joins a top tier adventurer party in the capital in an attempt to make Note jealous when he finally comes looking for her. She wants him to beg to be with her again, to which she claims she'll decline, completing her revenge. But Note doesn't and is even getting along with another girl, who has way more faith in Note than she herself does, sending plans awry.
She actually forces her way into their party in attempt to make this happen and adventurers with them for over two weeks, even neglecting her own party. During this time Note doesn't really show any of his abilities because the weak monsters don't need an evasion tank, he can't attack to begin with, and he has trouble using his search art to find monsters he's never seen before, and all of the quests they do have new monsters he's never seen.

But Mia's new party leader talk to Note about Mia neglecting her own party and he learns that she even lied about her abilities, telling her new party that her abilities were all one rank down from what they actually are...still strong, mind you. This actually shocks Note because it makes him think Mia doesn't actually think of them as comrades she'd put her life on the line with to fight with, and he's right.
To Note, this is proof Mia still hasn't gotten over their initial fight, and Roselia points out that the two, never having fought before, abnormal as that is, don't know how to reconcile. So Note eggs her on and challenges her to a duel with Roselia as the referee so that she can let out her feelings proper, and convince her she doesn't need to be so protective of him.

He basically uses his advanced hiding skill and Mia couldn't locate him even with tracking arts, but she decides to just nuke the whole arena (a forest) over a radius of hundreds of meters knowing he has no way to dodge. She actually thought he'd attack her while she was casting and didn't plan to actually fire it, but ended up doing it anyway when he didn't come out. So he actually cheated and hid in Roselia's sanctuary she casted keep herself safe and then took Mia from behind, winning.
I don't actually really understand Mia's mana capacity. In this same volume it mentions people who just get a magic skill but have no history in magic before getting the skill generally don't do too well with magic still. Oh well.

Mia reveals her true nature to Note finally, basically spewing all of her thoughts we got to see during her POV and complaining about all of Note's faults and realizes she herself was kinda overly-dependent on Note being overly-dependent on her. Weird I know.
Note takes the insult barrage very well and, while surprised, is happy she's revealing all this to him. Which ticks her off. So she declares they're rivals now and she's gonna conquer the dungeon before him, and tries to act cool by saying they won't meet again until that happens. Note instead offers for her to join the Arrivers, but she declines since they're rivals now. So he turned the kind childhood friend into a tsundere childhood friend, I guess.
She leaves her current adventurer party and heads to the dungeon town, but meet Note and Roselia on the same transportation where Roselia teases her about having already beaten the dungeon so quickly, causing her to run off in embarrassment.
She'll probably still end up going to the dungeon town as she already left her previous party. There, reconciled...sorta.


She calls herself calculating, and she is to a point, but I think she's still mostly just not being honest with herself, or doesn't understand her own feelings.

She actually teases Note at one point, asking him if he'd cheer her on if she got a boyfriend, to which he is actually clearly able to say he of course would. He also realizes his first love had already ended in his heart, making him just slightly sad.
We don't get to know Mia's reaction (inside or outward) because the scene cuts right after and doesn't get brought back up.

In my opinion and in the laws of harem, she probably still has a thing for Note. She doesn't actually have any good (obvious) telling signs in the novel itself, however.
All of her behavioral actions are based around him. She spent over a year lying to everyone about her abilities because she was still dragging on the relationship she had with Note and also didn't want a repeat of the situation, and immediately ditched everything to try to get him to look at her again, even though she was claimed it was for revenge. She probably would've forgiven him if he did want to be together again.
Even though she said her ideal type was his exact opposite, she also considers marrying Note out of pity if he can't find a good girl (she can't imagine him doing so) even if she doesn't actually like him that much, and despite initially leaving the village to find suitable marriage partner. Later, she also regrets leaving the village if it meant Note wasn't going to be dependent on her. She actually intentionally got Note interested in becoming an adventurer as she knew she was a big influence on him, utilizing his crush on her, and brought him with because there'd be no one left for him to marry in the village as they were the only two in the same age range.

Plus now Note is becoming the 'reliable' type she always claimed to be her type.

Finally took some time to read the volume.
Was pretty nice to see Note continue to grow (even if he had to touch bottom once again before that) and finally meet Miya and know her feelings.

Personally, I don't know if I want Miya to replace Jin. A part of me wants her to, but the other doesn't want the party to become Note's harem + Force and Neme.
Well, we won't know that before at least vol 6 anyway, as I think vol 5 will be about getting Force and Erin back.

I have to say, though, that I would have liked the volume more if I actually remember what happened in the past volumes... Kind of a shame.
Now, have to wait for vol 5.

Also, apparently the author finished to upload vol 4 on Narou, as well as change the past three volumes to be like the LN, so if you want to read.

Been a while since I saw this thread popped up here, and yesterday I read the WN after reading the manga first, for the plot reason, Rozuria the Crusher.

I must say, there also a novel like this. The theme is adventuring and dungeon diving, and usually ppl will write the theme and plot more than the character development.
But in this WN what i saw was only about Note and his party member social problem. The plot is not advancing much.

This kind of wn is not bad, but spending half until almost a year (in story time) just to learn arts is too stupid. No other details about his or other member allowances or spending. No food quest nor redeeming boss battle event, I only remember several interesting battle such as horse king and 21F boss.
Even when the party made a new record breakthroughing the new floor there are no event happened, it feels like it's nothing special, this is a adventurer/dungeon themed WN for HESTIA sake!

And at some point as usual the MC become alpha magnet, bath event with neme, 1-2 month alone with erin, and Rozuria the fallen kingdom princess also fell in love with him. I don't understand anymore.

Gin's death also feels bland, it's not like he and Note created the party together from the scrap. So don't say something like Manato said "party wo tanondaze". orz

But from latest raw at least I know that while MC is hetare, the osananajimi also have a little bit mental problem (and ofc deredere with mc).

After reading the WN, I'm surprised this one even get a manga or LN. The last several wn raw also recently updated, while the last chapter before the update is exactly one year ago...
