Manga Suggestions

I don't read enough manga! Suggest me some manga! I dont care about genre or age group, it can even be hentai if it fits the criteria.

THINGS I LIKE TO SEE IN MANGA (NEED NOT CONTAIN ALL)

-Great art. (that's a given lol)

-People following their dreams

-Characters that work well - don't need to be unique as long as they're well written.

-Actual unique characters. They are few but awesome. SEE - Claire Stanfield

-YURI. I am very only attracted to women and very repulsed by men. The cuter the romance the better.

-Fun gore. I don't like serious manga with a lot of blood but if it's all in good fun I gotta love it. SEE. Baccano, Mnemosyne

-Mindfuck. When a manga decides to get on a pedastool and make fun of everyone who doesn't get it. SEE. Lain, Evangelion

-Nudity. If your gunna do it, do it right.

THINGS I DON'T LIKE TO SEE IN MANGA (NEED TO EXCLUDE ALL)

-Boring characters. I don't care how great the development/writing is if I'm bored as shit. SEE. Twelve Kingdoms

-Useless characters. If they aren't going to be a part of the plot or just stand around, they are in the way. Exception for good comic relief. SEE. Gun X Sword

-Overly dark manga. I'm not a horror fan nor do I care to loose faith in humanity (NOTE: exceptions if it's really fucking good)

-Taking yourself too seriously wen you don't need to. Not every manga needs to be dramatic, and some go overboard. SEE. .hack

-Too much ecchi. Don't get me wrong, I like ecchi, but it should never take center stage. If I want to be aroused, I can llook at porn. If it's actually funny and not childish (SEE. Negima), it's okay

.-Bad yuri. I can read some pretty bad manga, but if it's yuri and less than great I get very defensive. probably because there is so little yuri in general.

-Fantasy. General dislike.

Vampire Juuji Kai.

It is getting very little attention for its awesomeness.

(With the exception of yuri, nudity and fun gore.)

It sounds interesting, however I would also note that I'd prefer unlicensed manga. Especially if the scanslators halted distribution as soon as it was licenced XD.

Yuri:
[omitted manga recommended in an older thread of yours]
Girl Friends
Loving Sisters
There's a bunch of oneshots and such by lililicious, plus all the yuri Dynasty Scans has been releasing (don't feel like listing... ^^)

Other stuff:
Matsuri Special -who knows how it'll turn out, but this manga seems made of win to me... shoujo romance starring a female wrestler
...and yeah, nothing really jumps to mind that I just must recommend. It's sort of overwhelming when I don't know what you have and haven't read.

You want Yuri manga? Rosa Chinensis's "List of Must-Read Yuri Manga" is a good place for starters:

http://mizuno-youko.livejournal.com/68245.html

Now, from those titles I would begin with:

Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry-Blossom Pink
Strawberry Shake Sweet
The Miko's Words and the Witch's Incantations
Girl Friends
Concerto (one shot)
Iono-sama Fanatics
Shoujo Sect (this one has adult content)

And these two which are not included in that list:
Blue Drop (by Yoshitomi)
Sketch (a Yuri one shot, also by Yoshitomi)

The list has links to the scanlators, except for licensed manga like Iono-sama Fanatics, although their easy to find nontheless.

Slam Dunk is an old but funny comedy/sport manga.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni manga is great, but it's still nothing compared to the actual game.

Mr. Fullswing is a comedy/sport manga. It's really, REALLY funny, and it's got great unique characters and you shouldn't skip this just because it's a sport genre.

Detective Academy Q manga doesn't have any boring characters, and it contains some nudity and it's got pretty good art.

Kazu-kun - Downloaded all the ones you suggested. I'm blaming you if I run out of HD space XD

Bucket - I'm not very sure about any of those 4. I have absolutely zero interest in sports manga whatsoever, and the art in Detective Academy wasn't appealing. The other one sounds like it's from one of the Higurashi games, and I am no Higurashi fan.

Believers - too hard to describe, so I choose to give you the Wikipedia synopsis.

Quote:
"Believers"[a] is the word for members of the "Smiley Face Center", a cult organization with the goal of achieving purity of self and reaching "the land of comfort". Believers follows the events of three such people that have been left stranded on a deserted island off the coast of Japan. The three "believers" are referred to only by their rank and they practice various activities in an effort to purge their bodies from the perceived evils that society has subjected them to, such as lust and possession. But the "believers" are not able to resist their past temptations so easily, and the faith in their "organization" gradually weakens as the "believers" begin to question what is right and eventually what is even real.

I'll just throw a couple out:
Hyakkiyakou Shou - pretty nice supernatural-type manga
Skyhigh - I usually don't like dark manga like this, but this one was quite... moving?
Gokusen - a favorite of mine... approx 6,532.42 times better than the anime

And since Kazu-kun went and listed some yuri, I'll add:
Nowhere to Go and its sequel In the Afternoon
Even if We're Not Friends and its sequels If I Kiss Her Ring Finger, Chocolate Kiss Kiss, and Wishing on the Moon
Shibuya District Maruyama Neighborhood - After School
Cherries for your Lips
Pops 1 & 2
...some of my favs

The first two of these, "Even if We're Not Friends" and "If I Kiss Her Ring Finger", are included in my first recommendation, Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry-Blossom Pink. But Deus ex Digital Boy, you should download the remaining two as well ("Chocolate Kiss Kiss" and "Wishing on the Moon"), as they continue the story of the same couple (Nana and Hitomi).

I even have the show on a disk on my desk and have never watched it XD. jedi, I'll check out you're suggestions, and other dude, I DLed the first volume of believers which I'll get to in a bit.

Keep em coming, yall. I'd especially like to see something with some action in it.

Action, eh? Depending on what you mean...I'll stick to the more PG-13 action.

Not to make this thread sound like a broken record (yay cliches), I recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Since you said you do not like Higurashi (for some odd unknown reason, everyone I know likes it o.o), try Umineko no Naku Koro ni. To quickly sum up the plot, it's basically about this old guy who dies and eleven people fight for his fortune. One by one they all start mysteriously dying.

If you've read the novel And Then There Were None (alt. Ten Little Indians) by Agatha Christie and liked that, chances are you'll like Umineko.

For the record, I don't know what your definition of a bad yuri is, so maybe you can care to elaborate?

But if you don't mind subtle and piognant series, than you should really check out Aoi Hana by Takako Shimura. It's one of the best yuri series I've ever come across so far. It has none of the stereotypical fanservice tropes that most yuri anime suffer from.
