The pacing is what kills it for me. Things go so slowly that it can easily become tedious and boring to watch. I find myself often skipping through the episode because i am not engaged enough to just follow along at its pace. And i know this doesn't have anything to do with whether or not i know what's going to happen, because i rewatch old episodes of the anime all the time... i could waste hours watching old episodes... though with newer episodes, i can't stand to watch more than a few minutes. The pacing really IS just that bad.

i've found that i enjoy the anime more when i watch 2 or 3 episodes at a time. for instance, i just caught up on the last 2 and they were pretty awesome!
also, question: does sugar not sleep? or is sleep different from being unconscious somehow? |

The last 2 or 3 episodes have been good in general, since it focused on Kyros' heroic-ness. However, the last few arcs since Impel Down has been excruciating.
As for Sugar, she has to be knocked unconscious or killed for the effects to break. Sleeping is part of her normal process, I guess, since the mind is still working to an effect. Unconsciousness is usually a sign that blood has been cut off from the brain; hence, fainting occurs.

Well there are tons of books on devil fruit powers in the One Piece universe (both Blackbeard and Sanji have talked about how they read about the DF powers they wanted to have) so they probably read about it in one of them. That's just a guess, though.

Its not explained how they know, so its a tiny plot hole. But i think the most believable explanation would have been from spying on Doflamingo... at some point they could have had a conversation amongst themselves where they point out that Sugar falling unconscious would break the spell. They are taking Ceasar and Momonoske to Zou where they will meet up with Law's crew; this is to keep them out of Doflamingo's hands. Last we checked in, they were being chased by Big Mom

Not them, but Kyros/Soldier could have read about it. It was his plan, after all. He knows way too many details about the power just to have randomly heard about them here and there. It makes sense since he was affected by the power that he would have been driven to research a way to turn himself back.
As for other people knowing it's the hobby hobby fruit, so what? Let's say the government suspects that someone in Dressrosa has the hobby hobby fruit because there are all those toys around. So what? Devil fruits are a crime now? |

Maybe there is something written in that certain fruits no longer have effect once the user is knocked out. Might be under a section labelled "devil fruits that affect objects outside the user." Not often that we really check whether devil fruit users powers are still active after being knocked out in this series anyways, so it might even be a fairly widespread thing.
But if the hobby hobby fruit was written in the books somewhere it would be a cause of concern if it's full abilities were listed. Ability that turns people into toys and makes everyone forget about them. That would lead to the logical question of who are the people turned into toys. For all they know it is people they knew but forgot about. Devil fruits in general aren't crimes, but abilities with that kind of sinister effect might be considered to be on that level. Anyways as to this episode, it wasn't bad. The tactic to get Ace's fruit was pretty effective. Certainly glad it went to that person over most of the competitors left there. About the best result as one could get and at least Ace's will gets to live on in a sense. Kind of sigh worthy that Usopp really is getting the Captain Buggy treatment. At least he's not trying to get it, but it reaches the same point anyways. At least it's no mystery who was impersonating Lucy. Though I kind of wonder if the people writing the previews take note of what the next episode title is....kind of pointless to be building suspense at this stage.

That was too easy. I just can believe Doflamingo is dead.
Kyros sure was pissed off. Colosseum was in chaos due to sudden transformations. "Lucy" made things interesting as well. He got the fruit!! And ate it too!! It was very amusing watching the Colosseum people freak out ^^ Usopp was now officially recognized as a hero & savoir. Another great episode!!

Now I'm wondering what does CP0 have to do with this arc they appeared once and then dissapeared from the arc. Am I the only one that after watching this episode wants to see a fight between Usopp and hos followers (read as idiots) and Buggu and his equally stupid followers? The amount of stupid that would be gathered there would be amazing in and of itself.

Well it was cool seeing the Mera Mera fruit eaten then and there as we rarely get to watch as people gain their powers (was CP9 the last time?). If Doflamingo has got some resurrection trick up his pink fluffy sleeve then Baby 5 and Buffalo don't seem to be too familiar with it, although Law didn't seem as shocked as you'd expect him to be. I'm glad Usopp wasn't basking in the glory the same way as Buggy and actually seemed irritated by their worshiping of him, before using them to destroy the factory.
