1942 New World Moral Order Map
WARNING! EXTREMELY BIG MAP
Truly a liberalist view on world affairs. The Allies are basically proposing to split the entire world between the US, UK, and USSR, making the rest of the planet follow their will unconditionally for their own good. |

Eh, it seems the majority of South America and Africa were left untouched, along with Northern Europe, and most of Western Europe. China absorbs Vietnam, Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
The UK gets Australia back, gains some of Oceania, gains several outposts in Africa, and gets... Madagascar. The US gains Canada, Mexico, Central America, Greenland, and Iceland. () And controls the majority of the Pacific Islands and several islands in the Atlantic. The USSR gains Eastern Europe, the rest of the middle east, and Mongolia. Germany, Italy, and Japan are obviously quarantined, though. Who is this Maurice Gomberg? lol@"The USA must, altruistically, assume leadership of the newly established, democratic world order." He was definitely an American who supported the USSR. Google says this was drawn up before the Pearl Harbour incident in 1941. While completely unrealistic, it was entertaining with its detail and spellin erors. |

May I ask what's the point of this thread?
Yes, I agree, it's quite an idiotic view of the world (I wouldn't call it "liberalist"... more like close-minded--quite "first-world", axis of evil and whatnot). But I don't think it's a particularly relevant map. I can also draw up a map of what I think the world should be--why is it notable? What discussion could this possibly bring about?

Humm... I see about 7 distinguishable colors. But lets say this did happen. Would it create world order?? You can never satisify everyone.

We both know this is political idealism at its finest, . That the USSR controls the Middle East is already enough to discount the possibility of world peace, and controlling nationalism is like trying to censure the internet. |

This isn't liberalism.... its about as bogus as those Cheney world maps of "how it ought to be".
Useful to provide examples that some people thought this way though.

The wikipedia page for idealism doesn't even contain the string "liber" expect in the link list at the bottom. The wiki page for liberalism contains "ideali" in one remark that Kant was an idealist (in the abstract philosophical sense) and mentions conservative criticism that liberal ideas were "idealistic".
World domination fantasies aren't liberal and they are idealistic only if formulated by very stupid people. No wonder that the map in question doens't look like the product of a liberal mind to me and I also very much doubt that it is a product of idealism. Kang Seung Jae is fighting windmills. And as we know his own plans for "world map improvement" have similar dimensions.

Though it's somewhat understandable that Finland was "given" to USSR in these maps. Finland being an Axis nation in WW2. Not so united under common ideals but common enemy. Still as far as lost wars go WW2 was a good one for Finland considering the long term effects. |

some background
I'd be interested in knowing a bit more about where this map came from. I guess I'll have to look at the links.
At the same time there's nothing surprising about this whatsoever. When WWII was winding up, the allied powers held a conference at Yalta that basically divided the world into spheres of influence like this. And in the book, " The Decline of American Power" by Immanuel Wallerstein, the author points out that (aside from minor sabre-rattling in unstrategic locations) the US and USSR pretty well stuck to their own spheres of influence as designated at Yalta, for the next fifty years ... |
