I think there are like 11 novels out. It can certainly span 2 cours or more.

actually including side stories there are 33 novels out. Remember this is one of the longest running novels in recent years and its still going. Can you believe that the first 22novels(11 of them side stories and the other 11 focused on the plot) which is most likely what the anime will try to cover and it was only the prequel to the main story.

Thinking more about it, this show seems like a Gender flopped, inside out version of Slayers, Where the mage is a guy, but kind of goofy with potential for bad assness, and the fighter is a woman with an attitude.

This looks pretty good, 2nd PV much more interesting than the first. Ayahi Takagaki is always win (except when Noe lol!) and her character here looks like fun. Zion looks interesting.. I wonder where they go with him...

I am worried about the staff and studio though... even if they do a good job they don't tend to do sequels..

And with a long epic series like this you can't do it justice without making sequels.

In regards to this show I see on THAT anime blog "lol geass", I see on myanimelist "lol geass". You know never mind the fact that the novels for this came out in 2002 and Geass was 2006, it's not like a glowing eye that activates a power was introduced in geass.

He doesn't. He's stating that the first 22 novels will likely the max the anime can cover, and those 22 are only the prequel to the central storyline.

At least that's what I think he meant.

Yep. The anime is covering the first couple volume of the light novels which is still part of the prologue arc. 11 of the first 22 volume is short/side stories that only and exists to expand on secondary characters or more insight on the past of the main characters but mostly it does not further the main plot.
Still 11 volumes of main plot is still hard to cover faithfully in an 24 episode anime.
and for those who haven't seen it yet subbed 2nd pv

Read what i wrote earlier. those 11 volumes are part of the prequel series( which is this anime) called Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu. There is another 7 volumes + 4 side stories that covers what the author originally intended to be the main story under the name Dai Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu which is the sequel.
