First of all....
Spoiler for Meido:
Dat picture I posted in the image thread became half real ! Only Kyosuke's manliness is missing. Spoiler for Kud's mom:
So we not only had Kyosuke travel back in time to become Haruka's daddy but now Riki also did the same and became Kud's mother. Seriously, why are they look so generic ? And Kud's mom look way too loli and cute lol When I read the VN,it always strike me that she would look more like the nerdy kind of type. |

This anime never really had a "horrible" animation collapse, so this scene kind of confused me. I couldn't tell if I should take it as a mistake on the artist or if there is some deep meaning to...
PS: I knew that was going to happen. There's no way the story would let the rocket successfully leave Earth.

Well, that kind of kills my theory of all of the girls' stories hinging on their relationship with a sibling. Not a big surprise, but it was holding up so well until now
I still can't tell if Kud's is going to be a simple story of loss and recovery from grief, or if they're really going somewhere with this. I confess that of all of the theories I've entertained about Kud, I had not considered that she might be from a family of cosmonauts, but I'm kicking myself for not recognizing where the names Belka and Strelka came from. I knew that, and I still didn't make the connection. Durrr. I wonder if it'll turn out to be significant that one of the notable things about Belka and Strelka was that they returned alive. Also, I don't want to alarm anyone, but I'm starting to suspect that Kyousuke might be... kind of a dork. |

So maybe naming your daughter after a dog isn't that strange...but wouldn't it be better if they named her after a human being who also went to space ?
The way Riki explained her name,it's like they wished for her to go to space not as a human but as an animal Quote:

BTW It's funny to see that they use russian second name and surname for Kud correctly(without typical masculine surnames for girls and so on) but joked with the name. And BTW there are no russian female names that begins on "Ch" so I really wonder how full name of Kud's mom sounds.
And Just for info Strugatsky brothers is the famous russian sci-fi writers so the xchoise is quite symbolic.

I knew the dogs' name were familiar... they were both named after dogs that went to space, so was Kud. The fact her mother named her after a dog gives me mixed feelings. I don't if that's a name you associate with dogs or if it's a common Russian name. If it's the latter, it's fine.
The start ceremony scene was great. By far my favorite in this episode. Kud is adorable. Wafu! Kud's mother looks so small and cute. Now we know where Kud got her looks from. Not a sibling but still family, so you may not be that far of.

I knew that was going to happen in the end, but it pains me to see it actually happen. If naming things opposite to what they are is common in pets, does the same apply to people? In other words, did she name Kud not just after a space dog, but because she might not want her to go to space and stay here?

You mean loli Riki with Kud outfit and slightly longer hair is cute

And it's more like because Kud's family treated her the same with pet dogs. |

What a tragic ending. And what incredibly harsh timing for Kud. Is Gen Urobuchi writing for Key now?
In any event, very strong episode. And yeah, Kud's mom was a total cutie. I'm guessing from her very youthful appearance that she had Kud at a young age, maybe even in her teens. I hope you're not writing that just because of his love of puns. Because if so, I'm a massive dork myself.

Nope, Russians don't name children by pets names. But we do name pets by foreign human names like Jon for example
Also am I missing something but "Belka" means squirrel, not white. "Belyj" means white. That scene between Kud and Riki could be really awkward if someone were to pass by.

Ok gathering you are stating this maybe your most favorite Arc than I am gathering that Kud's mother did not die. At least I hope so other wise this show just took a downhill to me and I won't be watching anymore of this show. It was bad enough with the previous Arc where nobody died but was psychologically tortured but add death to the show and it has lost any resemblance to being a good show for me.
