Rin's statement about Aoki (v2p68) I remember, I'll review the other.
Spoiler for Reiji comment:
@gamma: its taken me a year and a half of sporadic studying to achieve my current "lame" level. I read with all my dictionaries within reach. Sometimes I'll get stuck for an hour on some badly printed kanji. Someone with more time could probably have done it in six months. Practice, practice, practice...

Yeah, there have been a lot of half spoilers revealed (at least by a few of us including me) just because we've felt the need to demonstrate this isn't the "light comedy child porn" it has been substantially mischaracterized as.
People who've not read the book, just looked at the pictures, or thumbed until they found a scene that is only scary out of context have spectacularly slandered this book. So... sorry if we're confusing you. Spoiler for relating to that manga image:
Just enjoy and read the story

After all the verbal flak that I've seen elsewhere aimed at Aoki about being: a) a pedophile and b) irresponsible regarding reporting Rin's behavior to superiors, I find it highly ironic that the prologue chapter reveals that
Spoiler:
However, I do have one issue with this manga - I can't stop feeling that any minute now Mimi Usa is going to spin a cocoon, and a few years later will emerge as Miyuki Takara (Lucky☆Star). Last edited by Furudanuki; 2007-06-05 at 12:07. Reason: added comment and spoiler tags |

Aye... its starting to get difficult not to just dismiss detractors out of hand so many of them demonstrate so little clue about the contents.
I'll certainly grant the story content is dramatic .... but its about people trying to do the best they can to help each other. I occasionally make the mistake of watching recent prime time crime/law dramas and am often appalled by the behaviors demonstrated by "good" or "evil" on those shows. But that's okay... yet a story about a teacher trying to reach a girl with emotional trauma who's acting out is Evil Incarnate. Sorry, logic circuits want to troutslap the insanity... ... Cheers to MakubeX2 and team .... if there's any support I can provide, let me know.

Rin is just a very sharp and clever girl who had been through a lot, thus her maturity beyond her years. She yearn for a Father Figure which she knew she'll never find in Reiji. My observation is that, as she knew that she is still young, people will just ignore her if she act her age, and thus resort to said actions in the manga. Only problems is that she, in her young age, lacks the experience on the handling of emotional matters. PS :- Somebody else had done Chapter 6 before us. I'm not ashame to said that. The only assurance is we have for you is that a better quality translation and coloured pages if a chapter features any. Last edited by MakubeX2; 2007-06-05 at 17:52. |

The guy, apparently a indie, translate Chapter 6 using only the chinese translation as a basis for his scans.
We, however, strike a middleground by using both the original Japanese texts and Chinese Translation. After that we get somebody to clean the translation up. The said person who release Chapter 6 also did the editing of the scans himself whereas we have a dedicate person for the job. But rest assure, we will release Chapter 6 so that you people can decide which Scans to follow. Last edited by MakubeX2; 2007-06-05 at 19:26. |

Aye, I am also sticking to your scanlations MakubeX2, that is if I could find them *smirks*
I have high hopes for this series, and I am really looking forward to the scanlations, I dont normaly read manga in this way. So this is a first for me. I tend to buy manga rather than read them on my PC screen. But thats not to say it will be a bad experince... Just difrent. In some ways Rin reminds me of myself when I was 12, I knew a lot more than I should. So I can sorta identifie with her. Altho she dose do things that I would have turned 12 shades of red doing *giggles softly* Anyway, looking forward to chapter 6 & 7! |

Interestingly, the author Watashiya has something to say about the N.Am. cancellation of KnJ. Here's the most recent entry in her blog (6/7). The amusing/sad part is that she thinks it was the cousin-relationship or perhaps the child-adult bathing that killed it. The scenes that got the SSE prez wrapped around a pole, she doesn't even consider. She also, I think, mistakes the various comments on incest in other forums for the cousin-relationship rather than inane rants about Rin and Aoki.
There's been an ANN article just posted about her blog and the SSE Prez's new blog. They provide a rough translation of her blog but I see some things I'd say differently, so I'll do my own translation tomorrow. The latter part of the ANN article is about the SSE Prez's blog and implies he specifically discusses the written text in that locker room hug... when actually he doesn't if one reads it (over at gomanga.com). He just asserts that people who defend that locker-room scene must not be able to read japanese. Okay, I'll assert he doesn't know much about physiology because he may be able to read japanese (?) but I assert he misinterpreted the scene perhaps because he's unaware of basic physiology. More importantly, here's the author's thoughts from her blog: Quote:
Very roughly, it translates as: Quote:
Okay, you can laugh/cry/rollyoureyes now.... "It can't be helped."

When they're too young to bathe themselves, yes, it's perfectly fine. However, usually parents aim to teach the child how to bathe themselves properly with the aim that the kid can fend for themselves in the bath and the parent can occupy themselves with something more important.
Culturally it's a little weird, but I'm not aware of there actually being laws against bathing your child past a certain age... @Vexx: I haven't gotten that far in my raw readings yet (barely into volume two), so I have no idea what's got him so spooked. It's against the rules to ask for raws, but it sure would be something if the page[s] in question turned up in my PM box... |

Incest... That's ridicules... I am sorry, but the only law against relatives getting married is in the case of First and Second cousins. and the law is not against the morality of it, its to prevent genetic defects due to inbreeding. In Canada at least, 3rd and 4th cousins can marry without any problem, and in some cases Second (altho its a bit unheard of) I guess this is just another example of the closemindedness of, "the West"
Just because they are cousins in her Manga dose not mean its morally wrong (unless they are first cousins, I am sorta against that, since you could easily have been raised as close as siblings. Not to mention the possibly of genetic defects) In any event, I don't believe she states how far they are removed. From wot I understand of some Japanese Family's, cousins are sometimes counted even if they are up to 6 - 8 times removed. Where in North America we tend to only count up to 3 or 4th cousins. Maybe I am just a lil more open about such things, but that's me. Last edited by GammaRed; 2007-06-08 at 06:47. |

Is this the point where the book burners say, "but.. we were talking about this part, not that part."
And the publisher says, "If you're talking about that part, then you don't understand anything. You're missing the point." And the burners say, "but, but, but, what about the kids!" And the publisher says, "Give me a break!!!" And the book finally gets approved for release....? Oh well, wishful thinking. I'm sure the book burners will clam-up while they're being proven wrong. |

unfortunately, even if the book-burners are proven wrong, they'll just keep repeating "Think of the children" over and over again. And a lot of the ignorant public hear that sentence over and over again and believe it without needing any evidence or by just looking at the parts taken out of context that the book-burners want them to see.
Of course, at this point the retailer and publishers should just say "what do we care, its not like you would buy it anyway" and release it. To bad it doesn't end this way. And I don't really think the incest thing would be that much of an issue, i mean, its hardly the first manga/anime to have it. I'm wish i could take Watashiya's advice and read the original, i really wish i hadn't failed at Japanese so bad (or i had discovered manga/anime when i was learning it so it wouldn't have seemed pointless). Anyway, I'm eagerly awaiting the Ch6 translation. |
