For now, I suppose, have some screenshots, and know that whenever the next one releases, we've got an (estimated) three month wait to being able to see it...

So Das Finale episode 1 was GREAT! Though I feel the tank combat parts were too short and not quite as arresting as previous battles, everything from the characters to the various minutinae was on point (like Yukari, why are you carrying a grenade on you for such a situation? ). The animations especially though, not even Der Film prioritized character animation that well or that fluidly, especially in combination with the glorious cinematography we've come to expect from the series.
The first part with the dark underbelly of the ship was especially fun, with Shark Team being a very fun addition to the team. That impromptu duel was a nice way to show off the assorted strengths of Ankou Team, both in expected and unexpected ways (Hana and Miho in particular are ). I actually like it better than the second part with the tank battle, since the battle really only came down to one decisive moment, and we needed to see the next episode to conclude it. Episode 2 when?!

The film wil lbe screened in Russia in 8 days. It's just two hours bust trip to get to Belgorofd but to much hassle crossing the border.
So I watched it as it is. Indeed not much action this episode but the meeting with the Shark team was great and I really hope we'll see part 2 soon.

Never push Yukari into a corner, you'll be sad and sorry! Makes me wonder what else she might be packing. I have to say that was a surprise!
I wish I could get the Automotive Team to work on my car, but mere 'automobiles' probably no longer hold their interest. I mean just LOOK at what they did with the Porsche Tiger! Working on a normal car for them is probably like expecting Michelangelo to use finger paint.

I'm actually a little puzzled: not with the first act itself, but one of our number hasn't join the discussion party yet! Given what we'd seen, Final Chapter might be more up their alley than the movie.

Anyway, what CAN I say about it. It was amusing, and yes, it is more up my alley than the movie. The conflict, for one, is actually proportionately sized, which is better than trying to hype things up too much. The competition between Anglerfish and the would-be Shark Team was amusing. I frowned when they reverse imported that fan-idea of Miho being really good at martial arts due to shell-dodging. It is completely inconsistent with the relatively realistic and low-key portrayal of things that I think was one of the draws of the original series. But then, wacky and throwing out realism worked for them (commercially) in der Film, so I wasn't too shocked to see something like this. The final escape was clever, but gawd did they have to force themselves into making that mistake to set it up. They basically all crammed themselves onto the bridge to get shot at. You don't have to have any military knowledge to at least suspect you don't cross bridges that way in a combat situation... Used to be, I would not accept such a passage in a FanFic (in fact, I'm pretty sure even amateur FanFics I've seen managed to avoid this level of contrived stupidity), but now I can't even get angry or protest anymore... I was kind of "Oh, really (flat)" and when they finally got out "Oh, that was kind of clever..." Times have changed. |
